Re: A cove cutting jig for making bee box handles

No dimensions but the sled will have to accomodate the length of your bee boxes which is probably 19 7/8 or just a little more since you'll have to take into account that you'll need to tilt the box...

    Re: burlap for quilting box?

I have boxes on top of the hives with screen and last year I made separate quilting boxes to put on top with burlap stapled to the bottom and cedar shavings on top of the burlap. This year I am using...

    Making my own lip balm

I don't sell anything but I like making and giving away lip balm. It's cheap and people really like it. And because I make videos of everything I do, here it is:

    Re: Tilting the telescoping cover

I had tremendous success this year using quilting boxes. The moisture goes up through a layer of burlap and cedar shavings and condenses on the top. When it drips down, the water is caught by the...

    Sugar water residue/growth in jars

I've never had this black 'growth' in my jars/jugs. I switched from C&H sugar to a much cheaper sugar this year and I have to wonder if that didn't cause this. I am wondering if this is a mold. The...

Re: Verroa Mite treatment with OA

Yes it does take too long. I have 8 hives. I think if I had more I would have cut loose with the cash and gotten a vaporizer.

    Verroa Mite treatment with OA

This is how I spent my afternoon. It was the third of four mite treatments and of course, I made a video of it because, that's what I do :)

Re: Need a bee suit recommendation

Great. Thanks for the tip all. I have a few more trips out to the bee yard before winter and I'll be dreaming of a new suit for Spring!

    Need a bee suit recommendation

I've decided I will start next year off with a new bee suit. The problem with mine is that it's just so dang hot, even if I'm wearing only a t shirt under the jacket on a 70 degree day. I'm in...

    Re: A new honey color

We haven't done a late August spin before. I know we have knotweed here so I"m thinking that must be it.

    A new honey color

I'm near Seattle and my honey has always been a light color, as it was earlier in the summer. I figure it's probably a combination of blackberry and wildflower.

I just harvested again with frames...
  18. Re: What flowers leave this mark on the thorax

I would guess it's the morning glory that this is coming from rather than jewelweed. Thanks.
  19. Re: What flowers leave this mark on the thorax

I'm getting the white stripes too and I'm on the East side of Lake Washington (Rose Hill, Kirkland). Supposedly jewelweed is not supposed to be here and the county wants to be notified if found.

White area on back - is this normal?

I'm finding quite a few bees like the image posted above. Is this just something they are bringing in, like pollen, or something more dire?

    Sorry the images are blurry.

Re: Transfering OH to a 'regular' box

I don't often panic, but when there's a bee in my suit I make the exception because it's hard to know how many are inside the veil and it becomes difficult to know if those bees buzzing around you...

Transfering OH to a 'regular' box

I've enjoyed my OH all summer but decided it was time to move it to a bigger home. Easy right?

A cove cutting jig for making bee box handles

I was not satisfied with the different handles I have on my bee hive boxes. But I found one that was quick to make and made a few minor changes to suit my purposes. I'm pretty happy with it and I'll...
