    Re: New York

Basswood opening this morning 14131. The tree in my yard is loaded with blossoms compared to none last year.
This afternoon, after morning showers, the tree is full of bees. Life is good!:)

    Re: Comb Honey Foundation

OK, I found another box of 4-1/8" thin surplus from Dadant and it is beautiful, just like the Brushy Mt., deeply embossed and nice and flat.
The 3-7/8" I got from them didn't seem as deeply embossed...

    Re: Comb Honey Foundation

The # I gave was off the BM box. It was a 5# box. The Dadant I just got is F31001, a 1lb box. The stickers obviously came off the same printer but, the foundation is clearly way different. I sure...

I thank you very much, but that's not the same. Dadant was the supplier I was referring to.

    Comb Honey Foundation

In the past I have used Brushy Mnt. thin surplus foundation for Ross Rounds; very good stuff. I'm down to the last of the BM and ordered some from another supplier and it's not as good (to my eye,...

Re: Replace Frames in Same Order Question

Welcome and good luck. No need to number them, in time you will need to rearrange them, probably. The bees have everything arranged nice and orderly, just the way they want it. How would you feel...

    Re: Moonshine jugs?

I've used a few Muth jars and held them for over a year and never saw them granulate any faster than glass jars with metal lids. I use the heat shrink seals, but the the whole top of the cork is...

    Re: Kelley Beekeeping

Good news in yesterdays mail. I got a letter from Worley Printing Co., 705 Mill St, PO Box 27, Leitchfield, KY, 42754, (270) 259-4351
They formerly did the labels for Kelly. email:...

    Re: Probably over thinking this.

You are probably spraying at the wrong time. Glyphosate works best after bloom. With poison ivy the best time is late summer just before it starts changing color.

    Re: New York

Locust in full bloom here. Very sparse on most trees compared to last year. Very few bees in then so far. Many trees look very poor or dying. 14131

    Re: Frame Spacing

This is interesting so I just measured some boxes and frames. Humble Abodes boxes are 13 3/4" outside as are old Kelly boxes. Mann Lake boxes are 14" outside. Eight new frames pushed together are 11...

It's a "wannabee".:). It's some kind of fly that mimics a bee.

    Re: Comb honey pollen cells

I wouldn't worry about it. Most people who buy comb honey know it is a natural product and will have "imperfections".

    Re: Drawn Comb

[QUOTE=odfrank;1726311]I am always puzzled by the fear of drawn comb on this forum. What diseases are comb contagious besides AFB? Some say EFB and others say it isn't. Mites? I don't think so?...

    Re: Drawn Comb

Well, a frame with foundation is about $2. A well drawn comb I would think about 4-5 dollars. The idea that all combs except yours are disease ridden seems ridiculous.
