    Re: Pint Jar Cost

I purchased anchor shocking 1/2 pint jars, and pint jars from them at wall Mart for about 8.00 a dozen. Nicer looking jars, and smooth sides, and semi square jars.

I'd feed them, and leave the honey for the bees winter food.

    Re: Bone dry nuc

I'd feed em well. If you have frames empty, and you feed this booming little hive. They may make it if you keep varroa in check asap. Also pollen sub wouldn't hurt. Worth a try to save them

    Re: Wintering a Nuc

Personally I'd add another 5 frame box, with drawn comb if you have it. Feed the dickins out of them. They survive well if healthy, and mite free. Feed asap, as you need this capped before cooler...

Re: How do I relax w/bees?

Move slow and gently around the bees. Be very careful when pulling frames out of hive, not to bump them around. Use your smoker properly, watch the guard bees on tops of frames. Give em a light puff...

Re: Need a bee suit recommendation

Hi Mike, nothing like running an old bar of soap over zippers to let em open up like new. I also, put a dab of clear silicone over small hole in veil. Cheap fixes but work good on my no name brand...

    Re: Slippery floors

Mineral spirits is a good cleaner of wax, I'd think. Lacquer or denatured alcohol would be better, but a bit more costly. Less oily after cleanup though. Mabye better if the 2 used prior to painting...

    Re: Slippery floors

Once you get it cleaned, you can paint it with oil based paint or urethane. Mixed in some crushed lava stone from hardware store. Will help it not be so slippery.

    Re: Richinbama 2018-2019 beekeeping quest
