I harvested the top super. I didn't put it back on, but placed it nearby and they (and presumably bees from the other two hives) are getting the remaining honey out of it. I put in a new deep and...
I used a scraper followed by inserting 4 frames into a typical centrifugal (spinning) extractor. They are pretty chewed up. I'm heading down there now and I'll get some picks, but I suspect that...
Thanks all for the quick responses. I didn't realize they could make use of the mess that is left, so I'll put it back for them.
Actually, scratch my idea of using a torch. Wax burns, doh! 😆
This wouldn't be urgent, but I've borrowed my club's harvesting equipment and must return it soon.
I have fra.es from my super mostly drained after spinning, but I'm not sure how to get the wax. ...
I have a hive with a single deep as the brood box and two supers packed with capped honey. How much should I leave for them?
I was given this very healthy, three-year-old hive a few...
Thanks, Jonn D,I'll do that!
Thank you to everyone for the advice. I appreciate every post. 😀
I'm pretty sure they are from Mann Lake, unless the boxes are counterfeit also.
If I may add a related question: these...
Sounds like I thought I knew more than I do about this :) I can easily cancel the return requests and keep the hives and supers.
I'll update my profile as you suggest, JWPalmer.
I'm fairly new to beekeeping, but I do have three active hives. The local ag exemption requires 6. A guy getting out of the hobby gave me several hives/bodies/supers. I needed more so I bought from...
I have the typical gloves, cloth and leather. How do I clean them? Clothes washer? Hand clean somehow?
I got the work on the nuc transfer done, and they didn't object.

Thanks for the answers!
My hives are a little over an hour from my house. On the way down it started raining and is predicted to stop about an hour and a half before sundown.
Is it ok to work with them? I have a new...
Thanks all, appreciate the responses!

He is thinking they may abscond as a result of the move.
I just inherited a 3-year-old hive (1 deep brood, 2 medium supers) from a friend. We moved it about 45 miles. It's very heavy (80+ lbs) and some mistakes were made.
The friend recommends...
I'm completely new. Adding the box was a big deal for me, but now that I've overcome the fear of being surrounded by hundreds of bees I will look to see if I can do the split you suggested. I was...
My first real interaction with bees, and I'll admit I was super nervous, not sure of my suit or exactly how to do things. But I got it done, including swapping two frames above and below.
Thanks, Western. I'll run down there and make the change. Extra thanks for the directions :)
Thanks Fields! I had just run across an article on bearding and I hope that's what it is since they've been like this for a few days.
I have the other two empty hives you can see in the...
A friend was getting out of the hobby and gave me some hives including one that is active. To complicate things I took them to some property we own that is about an hour away (New...
