    Re: Honey extractor choices

It is radial. Just have to spin the frames once and done. Sure it is not a Dadant or Mann Lake but it works great and cost so much less. Likely you do get what you pay for but this Vivo has been a...

    Re: Honey extractor choices

Posted this over a year ago and have since used it another season. Very please with it. As a side note last year (June 2019) my friend and mentor, who has 80+ hives and a 40 frame extractor, well...

    Re: Easy Vap

The ProVap 110 is only $485.00 not $595.00. Still more than the Easy Vap but 110 dollars less than you stated.

    Re: Power For A Vaporizer

Why did the hives die? Did your queens in all 5 hives die, how long after using the "wood bleach" or product from Amazon till you knew the hives have died?
  6. Re: funny story, really short on facts but high on speculation

Yes, lots of speculation. Would like to see the facts as to how many "log homes" he has made and how many are being used. Also seems to be a lot of work when there are so many other homes you could...
  7. Re: Advice on finding properties to place beehives?

Never show up with empty hands. An offer of a bottle of honey or something made with your honey will open a lot of doors. Also have a few facts written down, just a few, not pages of information...
  8. Re: Advice on finding properties to place beehives?

It is never to early though often if you get an okay and then want to wait till later to move your bees the land owner might change their mind. Have found it better to be able to move quickly.

    Re: Moving bees across country

Never seen any bees being moved in December or January, though. Maybe they do but I have never known of it. Think with just 3 hives I would not fool with moving them and just start over once you...

    Re: Best Feeder (top, 8F)

Just buy the Mann Lake eight frame top feeder. Have over a dozen and have used for years, easy to fill, no bees drown, no robbing. Might seem costly but you get a great product that will last and...
  12. Re: OA vaporization is probably safe with honey supers - here's my calculations

Possibly a higher concentration, key word possibly as so far no one has shown what the amounts before, after treatment, in the honey.
  13. Re: OA vaporization is probably safe with honey supers - here's my calculations

I could not find that label anywhere on my can of Savogran Wood Bleach.
  14. Re: OA Vaporization instead of a "traditional" mite counts

Never do a "traditional" mite count as I just do an OAV treatment series in February, again in August and a single treatment in December.

Re: Pouring from 5 gallon bucket

Would not solve your problem of lifting the heavy buckets but might be easier to fill the hive top feeders. I use an one gallon pitcher and pour from my bucket(s) into the gallon pitcher and fill my...

    Re: Price for honeycomb

I agree that comb honey should demand a premium but after trying to sell it for several years this year did not make any. Pass three years have given more away than I have sold, very few folks want...

Re: What have you found to be the best way to

Some of the products are just nasty! Bee Quick is not, has a nice smell and smell does not last very long. Helped a fellow in Columbus one year and had to throw my clothes away after using what he...

Re: What have you found to be the best way to

Our hives are around the shop and farm in groups of two or three to up to ten in different locations. On the the 2 or 3 days when we are going to remove supers and start extraction we use up to 6...

Re: What have you found to be the best way to

Yes Sir, bee escapes will work and sound like what you enjoy. For us old folks, 67 and my buddy 71, having 73 hives (this year) with two or three supers each just to much lifting and shifting to...

Re: What have you found to be the best way to

Bee Quick on a fume board, quick and easy. No need to buy a fume board as a piece of carpet works just fine also an old towel glued or stapled to an inner cover or board large enough to lay over the...

    Re: Laying worker question

Agree. You can save a hive, sometimes, but it is just not worth the time, effort, and resources. No need to haul the miles away, though. Around the corner of the house will work just fine.
