    Re: Beesource going political

You need to stop searching for the American Communist Party on google. Ads on websites that you visit are directly tied to your google searches and browsing history.

    Re: OAV

Just thought that I would throw out the term "empirical evidence". It is nice to know how and why OA works through scientific testings and study, but empirical evidence is a valid scientific method...

Re: OAV - A discussion on temperature

In carefully controlled tests in a laboratory, OA breaks down at 372f. Vaporizers aren't really a device to achieve optimal conditions for the formation of formic acid.

Get a ventilated jacket. One of the best investments I have made in a long time.
  7. Re: Texas Laws regarding being forced to remove backyard hives

Don't do anything until you have been formally notified that you are in violation of a local code or ordinance. The neighbor could be full of it or may be misinterpreting something. Remember, it is...
  8. Re: Possible to spray for ticks without hurting bees?

Spray your cloths with permethrin and let them dry before wearing. Yes permethin is highly toxic to honeybees, but unless they land on your bee suit and lick it, it wont hurt them. Small amount, if...

Re: Is there an end to swarm season?

I have had only 3 swarm calls in the Kansas City area. Normally I would have caught a dozen by now. Anybody else experiencing this weird no-swarm season?

    Re: Weird brown stuff.

Ah, I think we have a winner. The stack of supers was from a dead out. I let the bees from the other hives clean out the honey, but they didn't take the pollen. There are plenty of ants in the...

    Re: Weird brown stuff.

So it is pollen? Do wax moth larva remove pollen, or something else. Can pollen dry out and fall out of the comb. When I banged the frames on the side of the shed, a lot of it fell out.

Re: Light a smoker to last all day in seconds

    Weird brown stuff.

I was going trough my last stack of supers in the shed today. I noticed some brown granular-like material on some of the frames in the top supers in the stack. When I got to the very bottom, I...

Re: What did I do to open the gates of hell?

It happens, but that is a huge exception to the rule. Smoke is you and your bees best friend. This anti-smoke fad is idiotic.

    Re: Parsons' Gold Solution

Why would you put anything in a hive when you don't know what is in it? Sounds silly to me.

    Re: Beekeepers from Space!!

It is worse than that. Counties uses low altitude aerial photography that has much, much better resolution than Google Earth. I expanded my deck a few years ago and I can calculate to a fraction of...

Check with your county GIS department. Ours does yearly flyovers to make sure nobody is violating any building codes. In rural areas they look assess planted, pasture, and forested acres. Lord know...

    That's why I am running. ;)

Actually I was standing in the driveway talking to my neighbor when the Google picture van drove by. I ran towards the street to try to get into the picture.

I doubt your homeowners policy would cover it.

I only have 12 hives so I dont bother with insurance, but if I had 50+, I would definitely have a separate insurance policy the covers bees and...

    Re: Dirty B......

I hate to jump in here but, who wouldn't have insurance on that number of hives? Also a go-fund-me page seems like a good way to avoid a false insurance claim.
