  1. Re: Do you clean and reuse plastic foundation or throw them away?

Since it appears that pesticides build up in the wax, I would also assume that it build up in the plastic. Therefore we replace with new foundation, tested bt Dadant.

Re: Treating to Become Treatment Free

StevenG, a poster from years ago, is ..to the best of my knowledge....still treatment free. The source of his genetics was one of the Weavers. It always helps to stand on someone else's shoulders.

  10. Re: wax foundation falling apart in the extractor

Yes, it takes skill to extract new drawn comb, but what do you do in a few years with the plastic foundation when it is contaminated with pesticides?

  17. Re: Will bees remove pollen from frames in honey super?

The conditions in a cave seem to turn the pollen to dust.

Setting back your supers by one bee space provides an upper entrance without the need for another piece of hardware.

  18. Re: A cove cutting jig for making bee box handles

In the 1940's, Delta sold a radius cutter that would eliminate a few operations. I will try to find the part number. I am sure it is no longer available, but a used one might be searchable.

  21. Re: Will bees remove pollen from frames in honey super?

Due to the possibility of pollen being contaminated with pesticides and causing problems later that are hard to pinpoint the cause, we do not try to use stored pollen.

Most bees do not remove it...

Re: How early can I pull the supers?

Good deal. Generally, SHB do not survive well in our winters, but can hitchhike a ride in hives and packages from the South.
