Re: Wax moth prevention in storing

    ^^ THIS ^^

I don't freeze frames after extraction though. I used Xentari until my super count got above 40. Now I use Paramoth so I don't have to remove and replace frames after honey...

    Re: Mite Treatment

You just want the bees to be active enough so that they remove the Apiguard and distribute it throughout the hive. Even if they cluster at night, when it warms up during the day, they'll get to work...

    Re: Mite Treatment

Others have stated that formic acid treatments can result in brood death and even queen death. With it being mid-September, the hive needs all its brood and definitely the queen.

    I would give...

Re: healty hives that refuse to store food

Are you sure they are not getting robbed? I have tried to feed small hives using top feeders. Robber bees just go in the front door and take the syrup. No fighting to speak of.

Re: Queenless and broodless hive, need help

If they have rejected twice you supplying them a queen, it would suggest that the bees think they already have a queen. Either there is a queen in the box or laying workers. Instead of capped brood...

Re: Mixing a few (5-12) gallons of syrup

I make 2:1 in 5 gallon buckets. I buy the Wal-Mart bags of sugar @ 25lbs. Pour one bag of sugar in the bucket and then add 1.5 gallons of water.

    Vine identification

This is growing over the bushes and starting up the side of a building. Bees seem to be working it. Tennessee.
  9. Free shipping on 5 gallon buckets - maybe more items!

I needed some 5 gallon buckets along with some other items and put together an order on Dadant's website. Their 5 gallon buckets are marked as not eligible for free shipping. When checking out, no...

    Re: Frames with drawn comb

    Say a 5 frame nuc is $175.00
    Subtract $10 for the box
Subtract $125.00 for the bees (i.e. package)
Subtract $10 for food & brood
Divide remainder ($30) by 5 frames

Answer would be $6 per frame...

    Polyethalyne tank for honey storage

The specs state this is food grade. Granted the bottling may be a be tricky straight from this tank. The price is what has my attention. Has anyone ever used something like this?

After watching the video from the UK beekeeper I got to...
  16. Re: Does a queen stop laying eggs completely at end of life?

That may be what was happening with one of my hives. I watched a queen walk around and stick her rear end in several cells. Even saw an egg get discharged as she was walking across some cells. But...
