    Re: Black Friday Sales

You can choose USD pricing at the top of the page. Their prices look great, but I still do better (so far) with the free shipping from other US based suppliers.

Re: Making a wine recipe a little sweeter

It depends. The alcohol produced is dependent on the sugar level, and on the yeast strain. If you use a yeast that has a high alcohol tolerance, it may ferment out any extra added sugar, resulting in...

    Re: Black Friday Sales

Yep, and the foundation is on sale as well, so together the frame and foundation is about $1.50 / frame for deeps. Low enough to where I am picking up another 200.

Re: Extending Shelf Life of 2:1 Sugar Syrup

My late fall mix is always good in the spring, with no additives. That is stored in the cold garage overwinter.

    Re: Black Friday Sales

Not specifically. About the best price on ASSEMBLED nucs is the plywood one at Dadant. Maybe not what you are looking for, but with the black friday discount, and free shipping, you can have 5...

    Re: Black Friday Sales

Mann Lake got bought by their management, with funding from a private equity firm. They immediately followed that by buying Kelley Beekeeping. They also bought a lot of the inventory of Brushy...

Re: My first Melomel - elderberry mead

An update, in the interim, I have racked it a couple of times, added a little honey, and cold crashed it.

Tasting - first tasted, right off the primary (2 weeks), was pretty awful, very much like...

    Re: Black Friday Sales

I am sure they will. Kelley's came out earlier this week, nothing grabbed me.
  13. Re: How much honey could one expect from one hive? Spring

It's all good. Enjoy the hobby, do the parts that you enjoy, and see what happens. You might be surprised.

As previously stated, I am hoping for a good honey crop next year. I didn't get a good...

Yeah, last year had some crazy amount of email.
  15. Re: Will bees pollinate fruits an vegetables inside a.....

My experience is that they will fly over a fence most of the time, rather than through. This is a chain link fence, so probably more so for hardware cloth.

Re: Johno's Easy Vap - Vaporizer

It is unlikely to harm the bees. It should not, but then again putting a heated wand in the Hive full of acid always carries at least some risk.

That said, sometime mid December, I will be...

    Re: Black Friday Sales

I consider them about the same. I have a list prepared in advance for each, and buy if I am happy with the price, without concern about whether the next will be better.

    Re: Black Friday Sales

I usually have a list ready going into Black Friday. Mann Lake and some others have decent enough sales to where I am able to get what I need at a price point I am OK with. Sometimes the same for...

Re: Two untreated hives in my bee yard

I'd tell him that the apiary is not TF, but you will gladly treat his when you treat yours. Better yet, he can join you and learn how to do it. But not treating, not an option.
  20. Re: How much honey could one expect from one hive? Spring

I got about 80 lbs total from my 10+ hives this year, and I had to feed heavily in the fall. Who knows?

Next year, of course, will be so much better ...

    Re: 18% ABV Sweet mead

My batch (another thread) is aging now, waiting for Thanksgiving. I am hopeful it turned out well. I didn't do...

    Re: Wintering in Montana

Not quite as cold in Eastern WA, but I too chuckle when people are still talking about feeding. That ended weeks ago!
