Went in today to remove a honey super to keep the bees from swarming.
Some of the outer frames were a bit light with honey.
Can I feed for a week or 2 to get some more food in the stores?
Or...
Went in today and found the queen in the 2nd deep box.
No swarm cells. Who knows what my wife saw.
Should I pull 2 few honey frames out and put in 2 empty frames?
I only have foundation, no full frames drawn.
The just freeze the honey frames for winter feed or spring startup?
Well, the brood nest box 1 and 2 are tight. Packed with honey and brood.
When you say pull the queen? Can you clarify?
I was at a concert when my wife called me and told me there was excessive bee activity in one of my hives.
She said there was bees in the air flying in the thousands. If you took a snapshot, it...
1/2 pounders were getting $6 per glass jar. Jersey prices
So we extracted honey Monday this week and reinstalled the supers above the inner cover for the bees to clean up.
Today I took the frames off and put them in my garage freezer.
Now some of the...
We extracted late this season so I can’t put them back on for the bees to refill.
The 2 deeps below are jam packed with bees, brood and honey.
I’m going yank the supers, freeze the frames and...
So after starting my nuc April 27th with all new equipment, then to have them swarm May 20th, then having a queen split, then combining 2 weak hives into one, we finally harvested our first years...
The 2 deeps below the supers are loaded.
Hive weight is heavy.
Do you leave supers on for the winter if there is honey unusable?
I want to reduce the hive to 2 deeps for overwintering.
Hello all, after having my first nuc hive swarm, then later having them combined with another hive, I finally have some honey in the 2 supers.
Not all frames are capped or even drawn.
There is...
I’m getting ready to pull a honey super off my hive to extract, but we’re going on vacation right about when the bees will have it filled (another 2 weeks)
I would like to start treating with...
I have the large Mann Lake and it works just fine.
My mentor has a BetterBee, now that’s a smoker.
I’m a tool guy, and the quality is really nice. Insulated container, and the lid feels more...
I have 20 medium frames with black foundation.
Can I use them in honey supers?
I know people prefer the black in brood frames, does it matter in the honey super?
Hey all, tonight I was at the hive finishing up some yard work and noticed this at 9PM.
The entrance was crowded with bees. We had an sunny day with 80 degree temperatures.

May 20th my nuc swarmed out. Didn’t catch them.
Added a second deep box 8 days earlier, but they flew away regardless.
I went into my split hive today and a bunch of bees hatched and are busy at work sucking down sugar water from the feeder.
I see some comb being worked on.
All that worrying!

Well the hive swarmed last Monday.
I tried to keep them home, but no luck.
Possible new foundation and they did not have the room the bees preferred.
Missed the swarm so I couldn’t chase them
Thanks everyone for the awesome advice.
There is pretty solid activity at the entrance, just not enough bees working inside.
Inner cover is off.
My bees swarmed last Monday and I thought I removed all of the emergency cells, so I purchased a new queen. Either that or kill the hive.
I went in and found a bunch of emergency and supercedure...
