    Re: Ohio Bee Box Company

Ordered a pallet of supers in 2016, delivered in 2017. 10% were junk, with ears not matching up. Others I know who ordered pallet quantity at the same time had the same issues. Hopefully this is...

Re: Oxalic Acid and Alcohol Treatment

Check the label on the OA. It will tell you how to apply it as a pesticide. Any other means of application is off label and illegal.
  3. Re: Direct release virgin into queen right colony?

Considering I wanted to use virgins and not cells, this was not possible. Thanks.
  4. Re: Direct release virgin into queen right colony?

I introduced 14 virgins a week ago. Had 6 successful. The virgins were 4 days old. The colonies were queenless for 1-3 days prior. Virgin was released directly in top box. I put the queen cell in at...

    Re: Root Simplicity Honey Extractor

I am looking at one that is well taken care of. The tank portion is stainless, the basket will need cam cote. They are asking $1200. It does work. Is this a reasonable price? It is 45 frames as well.

Re: Alternatives to a honey pump?

Do not use water unless you want it to ferment and be watery. There is nothing you can add and maintain the integrity of honey. I am assuming you are making a waterfall type device for people to dip...

  14. Re: Direct release virgin into queen right colony?

The location is 3 hours away, I have a full time job. Someone else is making the virgins for me and I will not be able to get them sooner. I will be dropping a trailer off on a very strong flow....
  15. Re: Direct release virgin into queen right colony?

Ideally, yes, id like to release into queenright colonies. However it is sounding like that will be a waste. I will release into QR only if I cannot find the queens to kill.
  16. Re: Direct release virgin into queen right colony?

  17. Re: Direct release virgin into queen right colony?

Re: Bees don't like my pollen sub powder

Yeah, its just being wasted at the moment. When the natural pollen goes away, if they need it, then open feed it and it will be readily taken.

Re: Whole Sale Price for Brood Frames

Wholesale or for a few nucs? If wholesale you can expect $25/frame, perhaps a little less if you buy enough. If only for a few nucs, you probably cannot find anyone willing to sell them, so expect to...
  20. Re: Advantech users - what kind of joinery do you use?

    Re: Ownership of a swarm.

Read it, yup, you cannot own what you cannot posses. You cannot posses what you do not have access to. Trespass is still illegal, and can easily get you shot.

Re: Populate 4 Frame Nuc - couple of questions

Give them a good shake of nurse bee when you make the splits. The nurse bees will stay on the brood when you move them.
