  1. Re: OA VAP 110.04 Oxalic Acid Vaporizer 110VAC

I bought one of these units and it is great. Too cold here to do actual treatments but I ran some water through it as suggested to test and to do a test run on cleaning. I also did a couple of trial...

    Re: New Smoker

This is interesting because I have a dome top one and love it compared to the other but I don't know the brand of either so maybe it's not the top that is different but just quality of design based...
  4. Re: Wax dipping pallets? Treated or Untreated?

What plastic pallets do you use? Are they specific bee pallets or do you adapt them yourself with something like the W clips used on wooden pallets?
  5. Wax dipping pallets? Treated or Untreated?

I am planning to build a few pallets, probably just 2 way pallets but possibly 4 way, and I think I will have someone that can wax dip them for me to save painting. If the bottom supports that...

    Re: Weighing Beehives-Winter Weight

    CJJ,
If your target weight is 125 in double deep is that most every frame full of stores except for maybe a frame or so for cluster space? I'm partly thinking that the outer frames don't usually...
  7. Re: OA Vap Treatment, Mice and others thoughts

I posted in another thread before I found this thread. With your vaporizer, is there a problem with it pointing down like in the first picture? We have some entrances that are lower but the...

Re: OA VAP 110.04 Oxalic Acid Vaporizer

Is the tube low enough for this to treat under a reduced entrance that may be only 1/4 inch high with a landing board or would that make the unit point downward too much?

    Re: Wrapping Hives and Ventilation

I am in Zone 5b also and get fairly large temperature swings. We are not humid at all in the summer though with cold temps in winter relative humidity is higher but that would be true anywhere. I...

    Re: Wrapping Hives and Ventilation

I actually watched this video just the other night and that is what got me looking into this. Maybe I missed it but I don't recall it addressing the specific questions I listed.

    Wrapping Hives and Ventilation

I am looking for some pointers on wrapping hives and entrance sizes for winter. As far as wrapping goes I have mostly looked at Michael Palmer's information. It seems like he leaves about half of...
  13. Re: Mating Queens in Two Queen Hive under Shared Super

Thanks for the ideas. I had read/watched some of Michael Palmer's stuff and it just got me thinking of combining production with queen rearing. I assumed all along I was far from the first to have...
  14. Re: Mating Queens in Two Queen Hive under Shared Super

Thank you. Unpredictable is what I had gathered from my reading also. Perhaps the better question to have asked would be is there anything one could do to improve the odds of success?

    This is...
  15. Mating Queens in Two Queen Hive under Shared Super

I am new here and asked this question of a couple of people and it was suggested that I post it.

If a ripe queen cell is placed in a divided hive under an excluded super that is shared with a...
