    Re: another pollen-incoming question ....

I am assuming he had the correct age larva for the bees to make a queen, and it doesnt sound right to me to have a split not forage at all. He didnt mention how close these splits are so they could...

  7. Re: dead and dying bees piled at entrance to hive

I just went over my notes, it happened end of Summer Early Fall. Gave then more room, requeened, added new frames where I could. Also the hive can get smelly.
  8. Re: dead and dying bees piled at entrance to hive

OK. 3 hives out of 16 or so had this; they did not die, recouped and are still going strong. New queens helped (I think) The hives were not isolated, but I made sure I had clean hive tools. If there...

    Re: sugar sold out?

If you are on the frontlines thank you for being brave and doing your job.
No sugar here in Delaware County either. As of now 14 positive; hopefully it wont creep up from the City to us here.

Re: Palmer queen lines make up and history

I think this sounds like what happened to Sam Ramsey (pre doc) when he discovered that varoa fed on the fat body, not hemolymph; this fact was pooh-poohed by some of the “big” puffy researchers. I...

Re: Things I WON'T get done this year

All sounds like good reasons to me, and agree with the last two. I will not keep the splits I make. Or let my hives get too many boxes that I need a ladder. I think Im kidding myself.

    Thats a little wheelbarrow!
  18. Re: dead and dying bees piled at entrance to hive

Here is my take on this; if you saw some hairless bees, doesnt have to be many, it could be just one or two. Chronic Bee Paralysis does this, but Im not sure if it happens this time of year. You will...

Hah, I thought this was so funny, the poor dogs were drooling over that food! There was another one on FB of two cats ringing bells and eating. :)

    Re: Shelter in place...unintended consequences

How does she know? What proof does she have? Her position doesnt mean much, it doesnt really give her credence on what she says. I would like to see a document to support her claim.

    Re: Shelter in place...unintended consequences

I think that is a good idea; a family member could set up the tablet, hospitals have the connections. I would leave it up to the family to do that.
