  1. Re: are mites more or less resistant in different months of the year?

My question and thoughts togather as follows. I thinkncertain times of the year the population booms and gets higher. Therefore more mites to get rid.of, and therefore more chances of certain...

    Re: Honey bound deeps

Oh, also... If the brood boxes are full of honey, move some up and give em a few frames to draw out down there. Or if you have some oldnextracted frames, drop them in their place. Just a side...

    Re: Honey bound deeps

You should really do a full hive inspection. During this, you need to do a full honey harvest of all capped honey. Extract asap and let the bees clean up all frames away from the hives. Then give...

Re: Can I open feed for winter? When?

I'd not induce robbing near my hives. I'd in hive feed weak hives, open feed larger ones, only after the flow and harvest. Also, treat for mites asap !!!.

Re: Can I open feed for winter? When?

Closed feeding will work on small hive that are weak in stores. As they don't have the forage base to collect adequately collect stores. Robbing will be lessened during a flow, but not entirely...

Re: Can I open feed for winter? When?

They generally won't accept open feed during a flow. I'm in bama, and mine just starting. Tours should be going strong up north? When they do start taking it, they will get it down fast. I try one...

    Re: Alabama

It's not to late to grow the small swarm. I use a 5 frame nuc, if there's a queen in there. Should bee. I overwinter in 5 frame nucs, and they usually make it well. I often have to add a third box to...

    Re: Some advice on re-queening

Make a split off that nasty large hive. Pull a little honey, but leave enough for them to keep going. Also, fall flow there? You will need to feed your Bees up for fall and winter. Make sure ifntoud...

Re: Heavy hives going into the fall flow?

I'd take the honey leaving a frame on the outside edges in each box. Add in extracted frames back to the hives after they clean them up a distance from all hive. 100 to 200 feet away from hives, so...

Re: 2018/19 Journal NW Florida Gulf Coast

Hi Heather, I pulled my honey yesterday. Very small harvest. Of my 7 hives, I got 1nfull box. I didn't pull any uncapped, and most uncapped were dry enough to pull. I lost allot of honey and hives to...

    Re: Splitting after pulling supers

I'd say go.for it. It's best to get it all done asap. If you have drones around, anytime for a split. Just feed em well. And make em.strong splits, as robbing is going to be an issue, and reduce...

Re: How to chek hives during dearth?

I use little or no smoke on my hives. Except larger hives. I work them as normal. Seems to go well for me. I use a hooded jacket, and nitrile gloves. Rich
