  1. Re: This is giving me a splitting headache....pardon the pun....photo

Yes, we forget to think like a bee!
  2. Re: Why haven't more beekeepers been inspired by The Sustainable Apiary

Whew, that is the LONGEST response ever...every beekeeper started new, some lucky enough to have a mentor, others self taught along with all the mistakes. One thing that is stable and will not...
  3. Re: This is giving me a splitting headache....pardon the pun....photo

If you go to the Bee-l archives this was discussed at length with a few “experiments”, an interesting read with the same conclusion of workers do not move eggs (I didn’t read the above paper, yet). ...

Re: Bees not expanding to new frames

Good advice here. I have a question, are you from West Orange?
  5. Sticky: Re: bone head split so far, somebody save the day.

Looks like it could be two swarms.

    Re: What is this?

I had heard that; will you start up again eventually? And thankfully the knee replacement recovery is doable. New knees, I might be there sooner than I think!
As for social distance not much...

    Re: What is this?

I know it’s that pesky shrew, it just likes that hive for some reason; another mouse trap is going out. How are you Mike?

    Re: What is this?

No, they couldn’t have blown in with this type of drawer. They are stiff, like a soft shell, and hollowed out. They aren’t small like grass seed, maybe inch long

    Re: What is this?

Thanks, never thought of that. It’s not grass seed but maybe another type of seed; out of 18 hives that have drawers that’s the only one that has it. Its actually hollow. Thanks. This hive was...

On the drawer under the scr.bb I saw these, does anyone know what they are? 55979
  16. Re: How long will a cut queen cell be viable

I listened to a Seminar a few weeks ago through N.y Bee Wellness, Dr. Larry Connor doomed. He mentioned that in Europe that they transport uncapped queen cells, maybe about a few days old, being...

Sticky: Re: Today in the Apiary

My two cents is most management relating to our honey bees is based on the weather/seasons.

Re: Buying nucs is hit or miss

Totally missed that one! The present part.
  19. Re: Removing capped frames to control colony size?

Why don’t you make a few hives with that and buy queens like advised. It might be easier to manage too.

Welcome. Take any and every Course you come upon. It may sound a little redundant but there is always something to be learned.

Re: Buying nucs is hit or miss

I am curious, why did you buy a nuc? You have plenty of hives. And I agree the nuc is weak.
