    Pacific Queens, (Kefuss' commercial apiary in Chile) only runs 20 cells per (5 over 10f dubble...

    a out break costs you that hives honey production and splits for at least a year

    less brood rearing, more swarming. Both help lower varroa levels.
    better cluster thermodynamics can't hurt either.
    Less bees to over winter means you can make more/later splits

    Certainty not all, but many. One of the keys is the flexibility to reconfigure the box to correct an issue

    no need for pre drawn.. the cup of bees are going to sit there for 2 weeks with almost nothing to do but draw comb, in fact with the 4" minis drawn comb impedes stocking them.

    there is likly good reasons you wern't finding it.. a dealy in the onset of queen rearing and a longer development time of older larva

    they preferentially chose older larva, and older larva makes poor queens..
