    Re: Home made Honey-B-Healthy!

Apple cider vinegar or what I am using is actually home made pear cider should be the base. It will adjust the ph of the sugar solution to something the bees can use better. Mine love it without the...

    Re: hypothetical question

I wish you well with your hunt for the perfect world. The end product from your hive is honey which the bees gather from over 2000 acres of land. There is no way to control where they go or what they...

My splitting may take me 2 days, The out yards are scattered in 3 county's. Some times you have to take the best option that is available at the time and second guess yourself later. Spreading out...

Re: Fast way to grow one nuc to 40 hives

What I would do is make the boxes. Make divisions that could be made from the nuk that would survive the winter. Set up feeders in the empty boxes that are left. Bees coming in to feed look just like...

  18. Re: How likely will a hive swarm if you don't split it in the Spring?

Packages can swarm. Reproductive swarms happen when the colony thinks it is strong enough to survive, start a new queen and send mom away to start a new colony. So by pulling honey and leaving them...

Leaving the truck running while vaporizing is a good idea also. Could save a long walk.
    May spring arrive soon.
  20. Re: Plans for 2016 and utilizing nucs for the first time

The bees cover way more than your 20 acres. Like 3000 acres. Which is a good thing because they are too short to reach into the crimson clover flowers.
In your place I would try my hand at grafting...

I have gone to 8 frame deeps for everything. One size frame to worry about and the weight isn't as bad. Fewer frames to handle etc.
