I'm not sure if this will be enough power, only 140 watts. I run mine on a 900 watt cobra I picked up on Amazon a few years ago for about $40.
Works great for me.
I do the same as beefarmer. Never had any problems
Used to have the same problem. Started using 5:3, problem solved.
Thanks johno. I got it now.
Also a question for johno. The type k thermocoupler you mentioned is the type used for multi meters. I have not found a particular listing for such. I did find those used for thermometers. Are these...
Respectfully speaking, sugar bricks have saved my hives from starving several times when weather conditions were less than favorable. Each to his own, but they do work. BTW I haven't lost a hive to...
Waste of time to treat if you don't leave hive closed up.

I had the same problem at first but then I added a canister inside full of holes to allow better flow. No problems now. Did yours come with the metal grate in the bottom? If so try bending the...
looks like a prime opportunity to expand if you have the resources to do so. If not just let the bees sort it out. They know what they're doing.
Feeding bees is an emergency management practice. You should leave them enough stores to winter on. If they seem too light in the fall, then feed. I use sugar bricks as emergency winter feed. Haven't...
:thumbsup::banana: Agree 100% with Michael Bush!!!
agree completely!!!
Tmac, you need to open the hive & see what's going on. Otherwise it's all guesswork.
This entire premise is not logical.
For natural and (possibly, but not necessarily) smaller cell size, you need to be foundation-less keeper (not top bar keeper).
Top bar is foundation-less...
are you running 8 frame or 10 frame? As to feeder you should feed a new colony for a time. How long depends on whether you are using foundation or drawn comb & how strong the flow is where you are....
Radar, I too receive the newsletter & the above mentioned box has always been unchecked. Do you have any idea why this might happen?

Anyone have contact info?
I don't heat mine. I split peppers & put them in the jar of honey then set the jar in the sunlight until desired heat level is reached. Then strain out pepper & seeds, or leave them. Takes a little...
Lots of good comments here. Unfortunately, the real experts & 0nly ones who know for sure, the bees, don't post here. :)
Off centered comb guides will cause that. So will a hive that is not level. Bees are expert builders.
Special K nailed it. I live in Sumner Co, near Portland. I use sugar bricks every year with a 3" ventilated shim. works great and keeps moisture buildup down.
