    Re: Rigid Foam Chewing

    Re: Rigid Foam Chewing

I paint flat panels all the time. Both eps and xps. Never warp because of paint. They do warp if weight is applied to them over a period of time like at the big box store I find panels that have...

    Re: Rigid Foam Chewing

Absolutely not true. All I use are polystyrene hives and I paint eps and xps all the time. You do not have to paint both sides simultaneously.

I don't understand why people are so resistant to...

    Re: Rigid Foam Chewing

This is the easiest problem in the world to solve. Paint it and they won't chew it.

    Re: I want in

Aggressive splitting can also be managed for honey production. They are not mutually exclusive. Likewise you can also move the ball forward on mite resistance if that is your aim. For example Mel...

    Re: I want in

Its not a transition. You either decide to go treatment free or not. I don't know of any treatment beeks that say they want to transition to TF that ever get there until the just decide that is...

    Re: Diagnosing a failed hive

    Re: Most Protective Full suit

I only have experience with ultrabreeze. I don't know how you could get a more protective suit. That is what I would go with.
  13. Re: Will 8 frame boxes work as good as 10 frame boxes for swarm traps?

If they are deeps they should work pretty well. Some people have success with 5 frame nucs as traps.

    Re: Drone comb

If you put it above excluder make sure you have an entrance above the excluder or all the drones will die up there. Secondly why are you running a Warre hive and then wanting to manage it like a...

    Re: Blowing Snow

All you need is something that covers the entrance but sticks out in front of it so there is a gap. I put an extra piece of polystyrene on top of my hives that is held on with a weight and ratchet...

I have and Old Sol Caucasian and a Frost queen that survived their first winter in northern Illinois where hardly any bees survive. We'll see how they do their second year.
