Re: My recipe/method for sugar blocks

Is there a water-to-brick formula to re-liquify? I'm sorry I'm being a little dense today.

Re: My recipe/method for sugar blocks

Break them into tiny pieces, first? Just put them in the feeder and add syrup, like an ice cube?

Re: My recipe/method for sugar blocks

Thanks, but I don't understand your comment: If you are feeding syrup just use them for that. Do you mean re-liquify them?

Re: My recipe/method for sugar blocks

I pulled the remains of sugar blocks off my hives yesterday and switched to sugar syrup. My question is can I reuse the blocks next winter? Can I mix them with next year's batch and if so how do I do...

Best book on uses of beeswax?

I sell small amounts of beeswax (a pound or less) at my farmer's market booth, and I often get questions on what can someone use beeswax for besides candles. Does anyone have a recommendation on a...

Re: How much can a hive produce?

Somewhere I read the long-term average is 50-60 pounds of honey per hive. That's a five-gallon bucket of honey.

    Advice on Honey B Healthy

I'm trying to build up midsummer created nucs for the winter. I'm feeding them syrup but wondering about the Honey B Healthy products.
Has anyone used either the AP 23 patties or their liquid...

    Re: A dilemma...

I would approach the commercial operator. Tell him, or her, who you are and where you are. Then let it go. Unless there are local ordinances about beehives, you can do what you want on your own...

    No need to apologize.
One thing about these threads is the inability to know the writer's intent, or see their facial reaction.
Right now I'm smiling, thinking of the things I should apologize for....

Re: Just bought a new extractor...well maybe

How do you know I wear glasses?
Anyway, billdean, you didn't say, "I need an extractor now." Andy K. did.

    Thank you, sensei.

Re: Supering a double nuc hive

Now I'm really confused. (Easily accomplished.)
You put the metal-bound queen excluders vertically in the brood box to create side by side nucs?

Re: Just bought a new extractor...well maybe

Look, this is a crazy time of the year for beekeepers and those companies that provide equipment.
Andy says, "I know they are busy", then later you write: "I need an extractor now."
    Okay.
    I have...

    Baker's honey?

First my mistake, then my questions.
I made a honey liquefier from an old refrigerator. Worked great. Too great, in fact. Over 48 hours, my jars of crystallized honey turned dark brown. I don't...

    Re: splits

Depends on your goal. Expand your operation or even just to experiment? Then yes, split. But if both deeps are full, you may want to do something: super or split. As a friend of mine use to say, "Do...

    Dadant vs. Maxant extractor

I am expanding my operation -- last year 12 hives, this year 30, with a goal of 50 in a year or two -- and I need to upgrade my extractor, too. For about the same price, I can buy a Dadant 20-frame...
