    Got above 50 here, so inspected the hives, 2 of the 5 were down to 4 frames of honey so added sugar cakes to both, other 3 still had 6 frames of honey so let them be.

    Yeah 2 weeks early. Maples alway seem to bloom week after valentines. Can not recall thinking about a plum tree bloom this early.

    Outside Richmond, maple is blooming, even have an early plum with blossoms opening, bees are bringing in red, olive colored, yellow pollen on a pretty strong pace.

    It sounds like a Japenese giant hornet . If so very bad an invasive species that has a super painful sting and can and will wipe out a hive. I catch them every now and again hanging outside my hives....
