Some bees will use them, some bees will guard them, and some bees will close them up. I run a bunch that way, personal preference.

You can put them in a box and put them on the hive above the inner cover, they will clean them out with much less damage.
Indeed! I agree!! A picture of my upper entrance hole on a super.

I have notched inners and some of my supers have a 5/8" hole in them.....more for an upper entrance than anything. I do not run sbb as I and others believe it disrupts the bees ability to control the...
Sbb were invented as a ipm method and not for ventilation. In fact I believe they interrupt the bees ability to manage the air flow thru the hive. Imo. I do have some supers with 5/8" holes in them,...
Your hivestand is, while lovely, not sufficient for a very heavy hive and here we are having blue ribbon flow year. I am not critiquing, just concerned! I would hate for you to come out and find your...
They may or may not have opened the cells. If the cell did not meet the queens fancy she will pass on it. Hygienic bees will remove larvae they sense is damaged.
🙂
325 million Americans and only 30 cases a year....I know I am going to be up nights worrying about it.
Yeah.....the queen is not in charge of a swarm and often has been seen being forced out of the hive! From birth to death she is a slave to the hive.
Sounds awesome! I have had swarms move into my stored supers before, completely open on the bottom and top propped up with bricks.....so while they may have a preference...they will take what they...
Yep.....I recently did this myself. Shes a monster!
Is that better or worse than life with out a colon and having a bag stuck to your stomach?
I will not post pics of it. Sorry...[/QUOTE]
Oh that is much worse! I was happy to have my amp after...
Aww...latent heat!
As do I. I prefer frames of brood over a feeder! 🙂
What if you are already disabled for life? Do the odds change?🤣🤣🤣
Yes, bees prefer nectar over syrup and even honey.
John hit the nail on the head in saying "she moves different" this is how I always find my queens.....she moves different and will draw your eye right to her. 🙂
They come in handy in the recovery of certain types of swarms and for cleaning off the bee table.
Interesting but I too have not had them willingly connect to the bottom and most the time not to the side either, but then again I have lots of frames with foundation they have opened up the bottom...
Yes and yes, no problem at all. I would let them warm to room temp first but otherwise you are good to go.
Larger queens have been witnessed using a corkscrew movement to get her abdomen into smaller cells during regression. I have some old honey supercell frames that I used to regress with, they did fine...
Personally, I use regular crosswired frames with standard foundation. Cut them from the frame in the desired size and bam! If you use thin without crosswires in a med super there is a real chance of...
Run down to the self serve car wash and spray them down.
Some swarms calm quickly, some do not. I do not wait until nightfall in most cases. Burning extra fuel or sitting around for 5 hours for a few bees is foolish. I have better things to do.
