    Re: chocolate creamed honey recipe?

Darn!! I made some excellent chocolate creamed honey last year but I don't remember the recipe. It used cocoa powder. I feel like I found the amount per pound of honey here at beesource but can't...
  2. Re: Observation Hive Help/Opinions Needed

Yeah, it can take a long time for them to get used to the new digs. I loaded a 5 frame nuc into a 2x4 a few years ago in season and they took over a week to settle down. That one has a top entrance...

Re: How to treat OH for mites?

There's a very small dosage recommendation for OAV. Can you go in when no one else is there? I run a number of them, too, and plan to use mu Provap110 right in the entrance.

Re: How to open OH after propolized:

Yes, I've used a hair dryer (carefully, slowly) just enough. I haven't broken glass yet but it's always on my mind.
Board, I hope it went well. Can you post pics of your OH?

Re: My 21 deep frame observation hive

Thanks for the details. I want to be able to slide doors to shut the holes. Going to allow it to be operated as one or two colonies. It should be pretty cool to shut it in spring and watch which side...

  12. Custom Wax Seal/Sealing Wax Recipe

I've been thinking about stepping up the classiness of some of my packaging with wax seals. A custom stamp with our logo is less expensive than I thought. Before I make a mess, is there are recipe or...

    Re: Top entrance

Happy to help! One thing that can help them to get oriented is to cover the glass with a blanket or towel and the screened bottom area with tape for a day or two. They tend to go downward to the old...

    Re: Top entrance

Definitely fine for a top entrance. I've done this with great success. I'd suggest a screened bottom area for small debris. Get a skinny utility tray and velcro it to catch it. Pretty sure I heard...

    Re: Stock pot valve

Thanks, Man. Hey, the Scots liked the Tulip Poplar.

It looks like the way I'll try for now but I won't leave them in the field. I put a gallon+ into each hive at a time until they slow down.

    Re: Stock pot valve

Actually that makes sense. I'm thinking about working with 5 gallon buckets with pour spouts anyway. That would save me having more gear. i can heat a few gallons at a time already.

  22. Re: Delivering Oxalic Acid - a possible 3rd way ...

Interesting! Might need a blower to get proper distribution. Also, are you sure the OA would atomize with the water? Seems like those ultrasonic humidifiers leave minerals behind.
