  1. Re: Can Palmer Style Double Nucs be used to produce Honey?

My brood factory nucs get to 5 stories even though we pull brood from them constantly. I knock them down to 3 stories, taking about 50 lbs from most.

    Re: Weighing Beehives-Winter Weight

A couple thousand I would guess. Enough to feed everyone what they need at once.
  5. Re: The right number of hives to keep it fun

I think a lot has to do with attitude. As someone who was born having fun, fun is easy for me. But for others?

This summer we had a young man come work here. He had been working for a commercial...

  10. Re: Down with Double Deeps! Fess up, you alternative hive-style followers!!!!

Wasn't it Walt Wright who wrote something about the Evils of the Double Deep? Or something like that. I've used double deeps for 45 years. In fact my standard brood nest id two deeps and a medium....

You can buy a small solar panel and attach it to the battery. Wellscroft sells them for about $40
  13. Re: Orange pollen in Early october, Northeast US?

Goldenrod is orange, too. You're in WI and there must be a good goldenrod pollen flow in August/September. Yes?
  14. Re: Orange pollen in Early october, Northeast US?

In the other thread you said yellow. Orange is goldenrod. There are always a few late bloomers. Might have been mowed or otherwise distressed. We're seeing a bit of orange too.
  15. Re: What Pollen Are They Gathering Now In NE?

Bees still working aster here...yellow pollen
