Re: Varroa levels in feral colonies

  5. Re: Ignorant of top bars - isn't there northern limit at which it is a good idea?

Re: Top Bar Mite Treatment Options

If it's cross combed u have to fix it asap. Brood or not u have to remove the cross comb and re hang it on a rescue bar before it gets worse.

    Re: is it safe?

First I would deal with neighbor one way or another to ensure it doesn't happen again. Secondly, if enough Raid was used to kill the hive then I would definitely not use those frames.

Re: When to check new hive

    10 days is good
  16. Re: Newbie. Three day Check and I'm a worried Bee mom

Just go back in and remove the cage carefully....then leave them alone. You'll get used to putting the bars back. Just be patient and gently bump the bees that are in the way-eventually they'll move....

    Re: lots of queen cells

If they are emergency cells (middle of frame, generally and smaller) consider a new mated queen. Emergency queens dont seem to the best imho. Just one of many options.

Re: When do they start storing honey?
