  5. Re: Urgent Question: Just spun out frames, how do I recover the wax?

if you smashed the some of the comb with the cappings knife, scrape it off leaving the good cells, the bees will rebuild.

I grafted my last batch for the season on the 6th of june and those all hatched on the 22nd and 23rd of june, and they all have larvae as of today, were on the same schedule. If your queen hatched...

    Re: New split robbing?

If you have a screened cover, leave a big gap between the cover and screen for good air flow, otherwise you'll come home to allot of dead bees. Been there done that, be careful in that kind of heat....

    Re: BetterComb Experience, Anyone?

I don't buy nucs, never have. I started with several swarms and cutouts to get where I am today. Bought the genetic's I wanted to have in my op. Then went from there.

    Re: Horrible mating numbers

it's about 18-20 days from hatching till you see eggs, and another 5-7 days before you see larvae

For our op, triangle boards are the easiest. Last season I made 120 @$2.25 each not counting my time.

    Re: question about emerging queen

Your queen cells will be fine. I use cali mini cages for emergence cages. The queens have no problem hatching with no workers involved.
It's really enlightening to watch the queens hatch as she...
  18. Re: I am trying to speed up my hive inspections.

I pull the 4th frame from the side and look for eggs and larvae, if I see eggs and larvae I know the queen has been there in the last 3-5 days, I evaluate the brood pattern, close up and move on. I...

  22. Re: Scraped off queen cells, but didn't kill the larvae

myself, I would go inside and check. Hopefully they didn't rebuild. If the bees did rebuild make sure your new queen is in there, remove cups and cells.
If no queen, me I leave them be, possibly...
