Re: Using a shaker box to find elusive queen(s)

You were a young man when you did this post in 2007 Or at least not nearly as old as you are now. ;) :)

What have you seen since then with the multiple queens?

    Thanks, Jim
  2. Re: Neighbor contesting our beekeeping permit - advice for the upcoming hearing?

Amazing. Pretty poor guidelines. I had the problem where I live under a general nuisance and other clause but I talked with a sane person on the HOA board and she fixed the problem. One neighbor...

Is there research on putting a queen excluder on the bottom in early spring to help control the swarming?

I realize it is hard on the bees to have to go thru one all the time and there has to be...

    Re: Bad Day

Well the bees look like our economy. These two hives gave me a little over 20 gallons of honey last year and were the strongest hive I have ever had in 30 years of keeping a hive or two. I had one...

I started in March with the two best hives of bees that I have in a lot of years.

One hive got into something and killed over half the bees. I fed 3-4 gallons of sugar and they appeared to be...

Re: Update on poisoned hive- Help Needed- Please

  11. Re: Do you need to rewax plastic foundation if you pressure wash the frames?

Have you used the cp to melt and clean old wax?

I am guessing that even with a pressure washer you will not clean 100% of the crud from the foundation? Do you just roll over any left overs on the...
  12. Re: Do you need to rewax plastic foundation if you pressure wash the frames?

do you just heat the wax in a pan or do you use water to possibly keep the wax from over heating?

Re: Update on poisoned hive- Help Needed- Please

I had that happen last year at this time. The queen in this box did not fly off but the swarm moved up under the hive cover. The best use of political signs that I have seen to protect the landing...

Update on poisoned hive- Help Needed- Please

The hive that I talked about looks like it will make it. I looked yesterday and the hive is getting better. Finally had some of the bees get old enough to start foraging last week, the gallon of...

Peeked in and plenty of normal bees up in the super.

Few still nose diving off the landing board but it is slowing down though I have the hive blocked off to keep robbing away.
