    Re: Potato cultivating....

Do you know a good source for the old world varieties? I have ordered goose berries and raspberry's from the standard type Gurney catalog and they more or less croaked.

Ahh yes the 250 Savage, shot a yote just last weekend with one. Had mine for 30 years and love it. Best load is the Factory Remington, still available, a bit pricey but on the shelf still.

Re: Strange Comb Honey Wax Color

Near 100% capped is one of my first "qualifiers" , then no brood comb, then "looks good". If an end is not all capped on a mostly capped frame the uncapped goes on the table for my use.
    IMO fine...

    Re: Global Warming

Here is a riddle, How many SUVs does it take to stop an Ice Age? I would think "when" Ice came down as far as Ohio leaving them with lots of top soil from the north... the Ice eventually receded...

    Re: Buying an Extractor....

99 for a 2 frame is not a bad deal. 2 frame should work up to 8 or so hives. then decide to stay there or get more $tuff

  11. Sticky: Re: treating vs. not treating for mites: opinion thread

Hi MSL, I guess we have to agree to disagree. IMO the starting point of the packages was more relevant to the outcome than the "System of management" Again good test , did have some data. but to...
  12. Sticky: Re: treating vs. not treating for mites: opinion thread

Well really most of them do. I would think when the mite infested bees are pulled from the Almonds, they are treated, hauled some where and sold, shook into a box. "Most" of the folks selling bees...
  13. Sticky: Re: treating vs. not treating for mites: opinion thread

Right MSL, But what If one package source has Learned behavior like biting and zero mites to start with, the other package source has not only has 100 Mites in the package with the bees the bees have...
  14. Sticky: Re: treating vs. not treating for mites: opinion thread

Hmm If the source of the bees can swing the study/test that far, then would the test even be repeatable, with different bee sources?
MSL do you know if the suspicion was "Mites" in the packages or...

    Sticky: Re: Treatment-Free Bungling 2018 - ?

Russ, as for comb, it is getting, keeping, storing, protecting, recycling, using, all of it. Because it is your "inventory" Some has stores some don't etc.

    Sticky: Re: Treatment-Free Bungling 2018 - ?

ok i use Nadir different. I normally add comb and do it when I'd rather have a deeper nest and open space below. Or would rather not have empty space above. For comb drawing, I have the best...

Re: Lots of bees but no honey or pollen?

Great news thanks for the update Windpath, I had 2 hives this year that when checking for winter stores, were full of brood and no honey. Odd behavior, hopefully a 1 off. I will likely re queen...

Re: Lots of bees but no honey or pollen?

Windpath, feed this fall to get the weight up. Consider requeening next year. My Opinion of course. I am thinking your other hives did carry some honey so it could be the queen/genetics. Unless...
