Where would the pickup point be?
I will give Eddie a +10 out of 10 on His nucs. Have known Eddie for many years and His nucs are full of bees and brood.
Just cut the 2 sides off and glue plexaglass to replace the sides , keeping the ends to hold the frames.
Sounds like it may have had a virgin queen or queen less.
We cleaned supers in a container (conex) and left the doors open and like sakhoney have had 5 swarms take up house keeping.
First thing is to leave them alone untell the new queen emerges and mates, around the first week of Sept Ushould see larva and eggs and know the nuc is queen right.
After U are sure of a mated...
I have a friend that has a bee problem near the town of Danevang Tx. I am unable to help at this time and I am looking for someone that is experienced in Beekeeping in the area that may be able to...
I am south of U in Galveston county and the first 5 barrels we have 20.+.
Give Me a call and I will tell U how to dry with a dehumidifier.
Just got turned down.
Sounds like there are some TEXAS sized bees around and they flew off with it..LOL.
I try to help out at least one new beek with a hive every year and mentor them as well. If other beeks were to mentor one every year it would help keep the beekeeping strong in the younger...

Do You have Tallow trees in Your area? We are south of Houston and have LOTS of them here.

I don't try to get stung on purpose but work bare handed 90 % of the time. Some day I get hit 4 to 10 times on the hand and some not a sting. Will scrape the stinger out almost when it happens so not...
Over all making a split is the best thing to do to maintain a non crowded hive. More honey will be made from the 2 hive from a split than just the original hive. Two queens laying make more bees...
A persons time is worth $$ and by selling it helps recoup expences. Many people wont pay for someone to remove a swarm in their yard. You and the home owner both work out by selling the swarm.
Give Her 3 weeks and look for larva .. bet she will make it.
Ran across this link on the Tx A&M facebook page: http://entomologytoday.org/2014/03/11/using-bees-to-protect-elephants-and-farmers/
Worth a read.
Will keep the Family in our Prayers.
Last Year We had 4 swarms show up and take up in old boxes here at the house. Had one take up in a deep super I had in the back of the pickup yesterday, first of the year.
I would grab a frame of bees with bees on it and but the queens in with them, they will keep the queens ok for a few days.
