We live in AHB territory and I inform all local beeks...

  5. Re: aggressive hive split to requeen - what to do with agressive field bees now?

Kill em out. Right now you have drones from this queen breeding that aggressive trait into more queens.
Suit up and shake all the bees off 1 or several capped brood frames. Place an excluder on top...

Re: Hive stand idea, what do you think?

Never understood why a beek wants a long line of hives to where any outside the hives on either ends must be worked from the back or the worse place would be from the entrance.

Re: Small Hive Beetles from Hell

#1 Preventative Care after a deadout or being slimed is to treat the grade under and around the hive or hives about 5-6 ft out with salt or a pesticide drench.

  9. Re: How can I mitigate aggressive bees in spring before requeening

Steve and Dennis (Bear Creek in Manvel)should have cells or queens quicker. They are gearing up right now.
Worse part about aggressive bees is their drone off spring. Kill all the drone cells by...

Texas Lagging Behind Once Again! H.B 1293

Compared to other states in the US, Texas passage of H.B 1293 (average of 25 colonies per year)will still be in dark ages for location and registration of all colonies.I prefer 1 or above.(My...

    Re: Making a QC incubator

Try an SCR controller to get pinpoint temp control. Sounds like what you are using is an on- off controller and has an extreme dead band lag.

Re: ProVap 110 Vaporizer from Mann Lake

Thats the price of 3 overpriced nucs that you may lose if you dont treat.
Save just 1 nuc or colony and it pays for itself in lost bees and lost production.

    Re: Band heater vaporizer.
