  3. Re: Over-wintering without any insulation whatsoever ...

Maybe I just got lucky, but both of our hives survived the winter, with nothing done to the hives. Granted we had a mild winter, with only a few morning lows in the -15 F to -20 F range. With my...

    Questions Concerning Candy

Made some candy, followed YouTube videos, let dry for two weeks in the house, 40% to 50% humidity. It hasn’t set-up, still “pretty much” mush. Am I wrong, or should it have become more like a hard,...

My apologies for my previous transgression! A very poor choice of words...for which I do regret! I allowed my disappointment in my fellowman, seeing that many are living with the illusion that...

    Jonsl,

Perhaps you should read 1a - rule of the majority

Here’s a chart showing in simple form the difference between a Republic and democracy. We are a blend of the two! memtb

Apparently you fail to comprehend that....we, the US is a Democratic Republic, not a democracy! A few hours in civics classes should explain!

Re: A sign of the times

Don’t complain about taxes....your neighbors voted for those taxes, and those taxes helped pay for the roads that can take you to a location of less taxes. Also, much of the “flyover” country...

IMO .....yes! I am quite inexperienced, but made a split exactly like that several years ago with success. Maybe just got lucky! memtb

Re: Caution about opening hives in winter?

I always thought that around 50+ F was the safe point. We just experienced an unusually warm period, and the girls flying were actively around when in the upper 40’s, I felt pretty safe to open mine....

    OK.....’splain This to Me

I will readily admit as to “not” being the most educated beek, but, I’ve not observed this before.

Re: 2020 How was your winter?

We don’t have the humidity that many of you have, but we do get rather cool....many -15 to -20 mornings per winter is common. I wintered with 2 (heavy) 10 frame deeps per hive, with no insulation and...
