Re: How to clean harvest equipment?

My bees must be different, they don't take anything of that is close to wax or propolis. I use hot water, the hotter the better. Steam would be best. The plastic goes in to the dishwasher.

    Edit: I...
  2. Re: Did you know Cuba is treatment-free bee island? It is.

Hello, interesting test field, Cuba being organic by lack of foreign support or/and currency volume.

This may be true for inland product and consumption, but where a national currency strategy is...

Re: Cover Crops and how close to hive???

@pintail..., I do this too, wherever, close, faraway and in between and I can only repeat what has been mentioned before, bees to what they feel is right. Also, time of the day makes abig difference,...
  4. Re: OA Vap Treatment, Mice and others thoughts

    One more post on this.

Going from the back like this 51483 works best, but I understand this could be a problem if you stack four hives on a pallet, where the side treatment would be best.

  5. OA Vap Treatment, Mice and others thoughts

    Hello,

I manufacture my own version of an Oxalic Acid Vaporizer working with 110VAC and have some hints on how to. This applies to most OA VAP's with a 1/8" vaporizer tube, so I hope it is not...

Re: Mouse Guard and Entrance Reducer for Winter

    Hello,

I was looking for 1/2" mesh, but my hardware store only had roles of 50 yard, so no go. Then I found this

Applied with the fall/spring reducer like this and stapled to the...

Re: Getting comb drawn 'on demand'.

    Hello GG,

it is not really part of this post, put I will answer you. I don't like to be restricted in my movement, so why should the bees (or queens) be? The only time I had swarms was with the...

Okay Grey Goose, you got me: it should have read 'principle' as in: is a rule, standard, or belief of one kind or another

    Re: Runny Honey

It must depend on location. I extracted last Sunday because I needed product (honey) and had many just partially capped frames. Moisture 16.6%. I have never been above 17%. I tested a jar of Manuka...

Re: Getting comb drawn 'on demand'.

    Hello LJ,

I am listening (reading) too. This is a big mystery to me too.

We all know that drawing wax is hard on the bees and takes time away from filling drawn comb, correct?

    I normally...

Re: Set It and Forget It?

Well, if it sounds easy - it is probably not true. If BD can do it, so can anyone.

But = would you take your cattle and let them roam free? Maybe 150 years ago in the west you could, but the...

Re: Bamboo skewers as a frame

I always use one or two frames like this when we have a good nectar flow. I have customers looking for honey comb and this is the easiest way to give the bees some 'guidance'. The comb is easy to cut...

    Re: Band heater vaporizer.

Hello robinh, why don't you take a sharp knife and cut the plug off 1/4"? It will reduce the volume of your plug cavity, but you should still have enough room for the charge.

    BTW, this problem...

More finished units to go out.

I have changed now to only produce the bottom exit tube after one customer tried to wedge a top exit tube in to the bottom bee entrance and broke it off.

    Re: Band heater vaporizer.

Thanks Frank, you are absolutely right, it takes no time to treat, but 15-20 min. to uncover my hives and I am getting lazy in my age.

I guess my supers don't go on before later in May or early...

    Re: Band heater vaporizer.

Hello Jerryob4, if you are talking to me, I only ship within Canada, not south of the 49. So if you are in the States, look at johno's unit and send him a pm. Or, if in Canada, send one to me.
