Re: Set It and Forget It?

    Squarepeg

I see you have convinced yourself that your problems are from another bee keeper who is not as good a bee keeper as you are. Not impossible I guess.

If it were deer I would be...

    Re: Slatted Rack Difference

    Greg

So if you have to build something to fix what you see as a problem, you have to build something.
You are building your tall frames and I build a slatted rack.

    If I want to use...

I am using the cheapest lap top that I could find and it is 6 or 7 years old. I don't have the ambition to learn new computer stuff but just incase I change, thanks for the tip.

    Re: Slatted Rack Difference

I do have slatted racks on all my hives. I will keep doing it untill I get too lazy to make them and then won't. I have solid bottom boards. I used to have a picture back when I only had three...

    Re: Maybe 2nd generation beekeeper?

Why did you dress him like a bear with all that dark clothing?:)

I have seen them on the side lines in some of your pictures. This may be more fun for them for a bit though if like my grand kids...

I had one swarm that issued from my hive die out over my second winter. No other hives had died and I could see that one going but had put it in a warre and it was to much...

Told treatment free was not possible and you had to count mites.

Glad that I am a slow learner and lazy and cheap. So far so good, knock on wood and all the other caveats that come along with...

Thanks alex. Now that you mention it, I also remember reading that on the honey suckle. I don't remember the red clover though that would be good as that is what is in my field. I did see a bumble...

    Re: Missouri

Yesterday I saw bees working vine honey suckle. I had thought they could not access the nectar on the vine like they can the bush. It surprised me to see this.

I can not remember for sure where I read it now. I read something in effect that efb will pop up bad and then be gone for good the next year. I do remember it was using data for areas and not...

The bees may also prefer 15 feet up, but I tried that one year and made a promise to myself, never again. You have did well this year compared to any year I have ever had and so what ever...

    Sticky: Re: Treatment-Free Bungling 2018 - ?

I mostly agree with greg on the trapping stuff. Some areas have more bees then others to catch. I have 16 traps and average two a year. Only have one so far this year. Some of my traps just have...

Re: Trapping 2019 - success rate?

I have around 16 traps out. I got my first swarm in one on 5-25-19. I leave the traps out all year. I average about 2 swarms a year and they have not shown a preference for a particular trap when...

Unless you own an island, the best you can do is respond to what your bees tell you. As to controlling all around you, try it if you feel like putting a lot of good time to a hopeless cause. Even...

I am surprised you don't end up with a bunch of queen cells after you add the excluder.

you could always make a couple queen cells for replacement of you questionable queen. They might make you a cell if you put a little open brood up with the honey and over a queen excluder.

They can probably live with out the honey in my opinion. If there were enough bees in the box when you remove it to make a viable hive start, you could move it three miles, add a queen and...
