Re: Jumpsuit and jacket for ocassional use?

You might want to consider looking at the Lyson suit and jacket. They’re within your price preferences and are quality, functional kit. Betterbee sells them.

    MAQS on single deep hive

For people that are using single deep brood chambers and treating with MAQS, do you add a super for added space during the treatment period?

After pulling honey, those single deeps are quite full...

    Re: Review Of Lyson Jacket

Agreed! I actually dislike the Ultrabreeze, but my wife adopted it and likes it so all ends well.

Hopefully she never tries on the Lyson. I should stop raving aboot it to her I guess.

    Re: Glycerin Oxalic Dribble

I used the method a few times and can’t speak to its efficacy.

    I started using OAV instead.

Re: How Soon Does a New Queen Affect the Hive?

I had a very hot hive that was noticeably cooler the day after pinching the Queen and replacing her. Within days all was right in the yard again.

It probably took me longer to get comfortable...

    Re: Stop Swarming during flow?

Yes. I just didn’t realize it was that easy to circumvent a swarm once they put it into motion.

What if one were to just cut out swarm cells and requeen with a fresh Queen?
    I guess there is...

    Re: Stop Swarming during flow?

    Seems simple enough.

They make a new Queen and swarming danger is over?

They don’t want to swarm with new Queen?

    Stop Swarming during flow?

I’ve recently been given opportunity to manage 2 hives for a friend this summer. I was able to look at them yesterday.

    Are Clingy bees queenless?

I checked a hive that appears to be queenless. No eggs, brood etc.
The hive swarmed April 20 so there should still be time for a Queen to show herself.

The bees are quite clingy on the bottoms...

    Re: Pro nuc

Agreed. Flimsy and brittle seeming. I plan on using to move bees or a swarm but don’t see leaving one out in the sun for any length of time.

Dadant sent me a new body to replace the broken one....

    Re: Queenless combine now?

After pinching the DLQueen, I did a newspaper combine placing QR box on top and did not use an excluder.

It seems to have worked just fine.
    Thanks for the input.

    Re: Queenless combine now?

Yes, I have some options it would appear.

I’ve been pondering this situation for almost 3 weeks and while not having reached any hard conclusions, I’m leaning towards a combine.
