Re: Equalizing hives, when and why?

    cconnell

Re: The state of United States

Most folk would like to "choose" the trial in life they go down. Some will do interesting things to avoid being "made" to do something.

    Re: Comb Guide Length

not sure the wedge length would affect that much. It would be worth a try. A sharp long slender knife would work to slice it for removal.
A fillet knife comes to mind. could try to slice off 3/8...

    Re: Comb Guide Length

ok thanks, the picture is clearer now.

does the top bar have sides? if not the intent I think,, is to not attach the comb to the side walls, hence the gap.

    Re: Comb Guide Length

what kind of frame and hive?

I use strips of thin Surplus, I can get a 9 frame super done with 1 sheet of deep wax cut in appx 1 inch strips

I am not sure a 1/2 inch gap would cause an issue.

Re: Honey from a bee tree?

bees tend to move brood toward the entrance/fresh air.
to get a bit of honey, setting up a trap hive in an attractive place, catching the prime swarm in the spring would likely bear more "honey"

I would not pull the 3rd deep but leave it for winter. I do not see the value of "pulling it"

    Re: Should I split It?

CBR, why not just give them more room?
either on top a second super, or Nadir a 3 deep under the stack.

to me it is a bit long in the tooth for a split, unless you can use a purchased Queen.
