  1. Re: Will the coronavirus negatively affect the beekeeping industry?

http://ir.eia.gov/wpsr/wpsrsummary.pdf This is a good link if you want to get an indicator of where the economy is heading. No histrionics just the cold hard facts. Here is an excerpt. Note; Barrels...

Before the Corona Virus came along I had already decided to not sell any bees this Spring. The people that would have bought them typically come from the part of our state with the highest...
  3. Re: Will the coronavirus negatively affect the beekeeping industry?

For the week ending 03-27 jet fuel product supplied was down 16.4% compared with the same four-week period last year. It is expected to get worse.
One could surmise from these numbers the airlines...
  4. Re: Multiple links to building and use Snelgrove division boards

The Redbuds are what I consider to be the beginning of the season. When the buds can be seen I check to see if the Queens have moved down. The ones that have not, get reversed, which gives me an idea...

    Re: Hypothetical swarm prevention question

It sounds like you have bees just to have bees. :) If so, just let them do what they want which is reproduce by swarming. Just let the swarms go or call a bee club to see if someone wants them.

  6. Re: Multiple links to building and use Snelgrove division boards

I put six on last week. From the looks of things it is time to put on some more this week while the weather is good.

Count me in the group that likes them a lot.

    Re: Dirty Sugar

Do know what product was being made with this sugar or from where it was swept off the floor? That might give you a clue as to what contaminates it could could contain.

    Re: UPS Lost my bees

Back about '16 or '17, I believe BeeWeaver stopped using UPS because someone at one one of the terminals sprayed a shipment with insecticide. Maybe, they have short memories, like me.

Don't people also add the moniker "Survivor Stock" to swarms of unknown origin?

    Re: sugar sold out?

I read a story this morning about restaurants giving people a roll of toilet paper with their to go orders. At first I thought, "How nice", then I thought, "Just how much TP do they have?" And "No...
  12. Re: a conundrum, maybe? feed a baited swarm but not disturb it?!

Are they now in their permanent location?
Do the swarms have mated Queens?
How long have they been in the trap?
Are they drawing wax? If so, on foundation or drawn frames.

    I have never caught a...

    Re: Shelter in place...unintended consequences

An interesting question of which I am hoping was posed to elicit commentary. I think we have learned plenty. The thing we fail to do is act upon the things we learn.

    What do all industries...
