    Hello all.

I've heard there's a couple guys or a company south of Patterson CA that process slum, comb and cappings and would like to talk to them about processing our old frames. We have about...

Hi! Great idea. Sure looks like a back saver. How much is it and how much would it cost to get it to Sacramento CA?
  3. Re: Need direction on changing fuel filter and hydraulic filters on a Swinger

I appreciate the help guys. I think I'll play it safe for now and let the guys at A&O in Hughson do the filters after I get the bees out of the orchards and into their summer spots.

    Hi!

I need some directions on how to do some maintenance on my 97 Swinger. I'd like to change the diesel fuel filter and also the two hydraulic filters. I know about lubing up the rubber washer...

    Re: propolis trap

I've only used a propolis trap once and when I did I simply layer it across the top of the hive and flipped the lid over so there was a gap. Because of the gap the bees propolized it perfectly.

    Re: ProVap110 video

Also, does anyone have experience using this in California? From what I understand your supposed to use it while your hive is broodless. When would that be? Seems to me since we feed our bees to...

Me and a buddy got to use one a couple weeks ago and it's slower than I was hoping. I would fill the spare tub as he was vaporizing. We used a Honda generator for power but it still took the better...

Last year was my first year really doing comb honey. I used the thin surplus wax from Mannlake and the support pins in the end bars. I thought the bees would get to working on it right away but by...
  9. Re: How does the load cushion feature work on the Hummerbee?

    Thanks Mike!

I called A&O and he explained it to me as a gas filled bladder like the link you sent me. He said it mounts low on the mast and tees into the lift hydraulic line and will have a...
  10. Re: How does the load cushion feature work on the Hummerbee?

Is this what it looks like? I see what looks like a hydraulic system on the mast.

Worked for me. Maybe Mike changed something since then.
  12. How does the load cushion feature work on the Hummerbee?

    Hello,

Just wondering what it is and how it works. Is it feasible to add it to a 96 Swinger?

    Thanks

Re: Foldable table saw with wheels

When I replace my craftsman I'll make sure to get a saw with a longer arbor. As it is now if I want to dado anything over 3/4'' I can't with out moving the fence. In fact to use a 3/4'' staked dado...

  17. Re: I feeding Ultra Bee likely to cause robbing?

If you have other bees in the area and your feeding syrup make sure your feeding them all at the same time and feed a 2:1 ratio. You might even wanna steal honey from the strong hives to feed the...
  18. Re: I feeding Ultra Bee likely to cause robbing?

I open feed pollen sub dry every year and have never seen or heard of it setting off robbing.
  19. Re: I'm teaching a 4-H group about beekeeping and would really appreciate your though

Good point. Another fact I'm hoping to skim over is the honey stomach question. Once my kids found that out they had a really tough time enjoying honey. In fact one of them still turns her nose up...
  20. Re: I'm teaching a 4-H group about beekeeping and would really appreciate your though

That's kind of where I got some of the ideas. When we lived in Stockton CA I'd take the kids to the Christmas tree festival put on by on of the museums. As part of it they had old world crafts for...

  22. Re: I'm teaching a 4-H group about beekeeping and would really appreciate your though

We expect between 20-30 kids. This will be for kids in the double digit club so 10 and over.

    Great point about other pollinators.
  23. Re: I'm teaching a 4-H group about beekeeping and would really appreciate your though

Thank you!!! I will humbly take that as a complement. If I can get the kids to work with me I'm going to have them dress in their bee suits so we'll all match. I'm not holding my breath.
  24. Re: I'm teaching a 4-H group about beekeeping and would really appreciate your though

Please don't feel bad at all. I'm sure your an awesome dad. I'm self-employed and most of the time I have more time than money. It's just through Gods will that I guess I get to do this.
  25. Re: I'm teaching a 4-H group about beekeeping and would really appreciate your though

That was my concern to never having done something like this.

When I was a kid I went on a field trip to the old Forni Winery where Hurd Beeswax Candles in Saint Helena CA. made candles. I...
