    Llama hair

My neighbor raises llamas and we live in Wyoming. The neighbors were having a moving sale and getting rid of bags of hair off of the llamas. A buyer came and bought a bag of the hair and said he is...

Re: Black comb and deformed cells

No we didn't. They left sometime late October or early November, but we had an unusually warm fall, flowers blooming in November in Cheyenne WY is unheard of.

Re: Black comb and deformed cells

Deformed cells I meant were not hex shaped and very large probably 1/2" in diameter. I should have taken pictures but I have gotten rid of the black comb and now it sounds like maybe I shouldn't have.

    Black comb and deformed cells

I had a colony leave last fall and was told they absconded. Today I was cleaning up the hive and some of the frames had nasty extremely dark almost black comb on them. There was also some very large...

    Re: Hello from Wyoming

I check visually both on the frames and as they come and go to the hive. I have not heard of anyone here having mites, but I suppose it could be.

    Re: Hello from Wyoming

I don't think so as I am very diligent in observing the bees and watching for mites. I don't think or at least haven't heard of anyone at our elevation having mite problems. We are at 6000 plus...

    Re: Hello from Wyoming

I live on 6 acres east of Cheyenne. My son got bees the first time I think from Murdoch's. I bought mine from Prairie Wind last year and again this year. I have the basic Langstroth hive, with 2...

    Re: Hello from Wyoming

It does blow here once in awhile. I read that Wyoming averages 12.9 mph wind every day and is the windiest state.

    Re: Hello from Wyoming

Thanks for the welcome. I think the feeding part is what my problem is. Last fall we had a bizarre fall, beautiful warm above freezing weather well into November. We still had plants blooming that...

    Hello from Wyoming
