    Re: Kids bee suit

Thanks for the help! Today was the first day she was finally interested in the bees. I bet the fresh pollen and pieces of comb honey helped. I had her finding the queens on the frames I showed her...

  3. Re: Bees taking in pollen - coastal CT, whats blooming??

It's always the last hive you look at. Hive # 5 in that row had maybe 1 of 20 bees coming back with something. Last year earliest pollen I saw was 2.24. Much higher frequency last year though.
  4. Re: Bees taking in pollen - coastal CT, whats blooming??

Sat between the hives for a good half hour. Zero pollen coming in. Several hives have eggs and brood in various stages.

I just burned all the branches from the maple tree I cut down a few weeks ago less than 30 feet from my hives and no issues. I don't think it should be a problem.

Re: Using a package as a cell builder

Re: Using a package as a cell builder

Last year did 3 rounds of grafting. Had pretty good results but got lazy with mite treatment and my hives suffered because of it

Using a package as a cell builder

My hives didn't over winter as well as I expected so I ordered a few more packages than I originally realized (or told my wife).

I was thinking about taking a package (without the queen) and...

    Re: Buildin Stuff

Buy a used table saw off Craigslist with a dado blade. Just make sure it's got a big enough table to make the cuts you need. I was previously using a small table top saw to build my boxes and it...
