Re: What causes Honey to cystallize?

Quite normal. Some honey crops will crystallize even quicker than that and some may go a year. Some may have a very coarse gritty and solid texture and some may have fine crystals and still...

    Re: Global Warming

I would like to see an effective mechanism of recall. If an elected person fails to follow his promised path jerk him off his comfy seat. That might change a lot of the useless posturing during the...

    Re: Global Warming

How do you displace the apathy? How do you innoculate the population against gullibility? I think some of our cultural belief systems are being used as a control mechanism. We really cannot go there...

    Re: Image-blocking

I met with the same head scratcher a few years ago on another forum. Not sure if it was the same image hoster but the gist of it was the hoster was attaching links to porn sites along with my images....

    Re: Global Warming

I have read that democracy has a fatal flaw in that the population can vote themselves gifts from the system. It is a known fact that people will seek and consume what is not in their best long term...

    Re: Global Warming

Yes; exponential growth based on finite resources is a physical impossibility. What is unsupportable eventually collapses.

    Re: Global Warming

I agree, but that would be a hard proposition to sell!

Of all the idiocy, I heard a short time ago that Canada is heading down the road to insolvency because in view of the projected social...

    Re: Alternatives to Wooden Beehives?

You can pick up card tables at yard sales. Same for skill saws. A skill saw upside down screwed to the bottom of the card table and you have a crude table saw.
Yes you can hotwire cut foam easily...

Re: Should I go with Saskatraz packages

Are there any bees that are mite proof in mite prevalent areas? It seems to me that acquiring set and forget bees is a tougher proposition than having bees you expect to treat.

    In Pa. I would...

    Re: Global Warming

I dont know. Dad used to say that there should be the condition made that in declaration of war the first ones to go should be those
over 60. That would put the end to old people starting wars for...

    Sticky: Re: 2019 efb threads

Boots too! I may have brought the EFB home that way myself but I have not seen bee inspectors doing more than shining up their hive tools! I have seen veterinarians being very cavalier about moving...

    Re: Bees gathering chicken feed

I think it is not purely wax that they use for cell capping: I have watched them working on sawdust where I had cut firewood. I wondered if perhaps they used that for rough comb and cell capping?

    Sticky: Re: 2019 efb threads

Recognizing and acting on the very first signs of EFB is excellent advice; as usual though, the devil is in the details.

The first signs of EFB in a well populated hive would easily go unnoticed....

Re: Like sending bees to war

My thoughts ran to the possibility that resistance to apivar had caught up to him. Still, with running that many hives you would think that possibility should not have taken him by surprise....

    Re: Mountain camp vs. honey

I have seen the bees flying the sugar out and dumping it in the spring. My usual shavings box top keeps the sugar quite dry if you do not dampen it to cake. I can see them moving syrup up from brood...
  18. Re: Fed water droplets/ landing board- they went nuts

    Re: Credibility of Scientific Papers.

Isn't the honey used for wound dressing sterilized by radiation or UV light or some such process. Natural honey has some anti microbial properties but it is not sterile.

Re: Respirator suggestion to use with Easy Vap

Yes, fit is important. I have been fit test perhaps 50 times for different dust and gaseous environments and even once for Scuba gear but got shuffled off that part of the shutdown.

    If the...
