Re: Amazon Oxalic Acid Killed my Hives!

I used that exact product a while back with horrible, horrible results.

I would strongly recommend NOT buying that brand from Amazon.
  2. Re: Bee-L member requesting Beekeepers donate their extra N95 Masks - DON'T DO IT!!!!

Look, if people want to believe the government websites about OA dust, and that N95 masks don't work - you are entitled to your opinion. These same goverments were trying to tell the public that N95...

Re: Any beekeepers sick w CV-19? SURVEY

There's literally a federal law right now making it a crime to gouge prices due to the coronavirus.
  4. Re: Bee-L member requesting Beekeepers donate their extra N95 Masks - DON'T DO IT!!!!

It's a challenging situation, but we need our over the age of 50-60 beekeepers healthy, especially if they are commerical beekeepers. Our food supply depends on it.

    I'm just a random poster...
  5. Re: Bee-L member requesting Beekeepers donate their extra N95 Masks - DON'T DO IT!!!!

They will need N95 masks for their own lives and protection. The Wuhan coronavrius is highly contagious and spreads in the air (droplet spread).

Italy is literally not even treating people over...
  6. Re: Bee-L member requesting Beekeepers donate their extra N95 Masks - DON'T DO IT!!!!

In my opinion, We will absolutely be screwed if our experienced over the age of 50 commercial beekeepers start to succumb to the Wuhan Coronavirus.

In the long term, we need our commercial...

  9. Bee-L member requesting Beekeepers donate their extra N95 Masks - DON'T DO IT!!!!

OK I'll just delete my post.

Stay safe out there - if you do have a lot of extra N95 masks (more than what is required for personal use), please do donate.

    Commercial beekeepers are essential...
  10. Double nuc entrance locations? One on either side, or opposite entrances?

Question about double nuc entrance locations:

For double nuc boxes, if the entrances are on the far left and far right of the box, will this create orientation issues?

Or is it better to just...

Re: OA and reduced honey yields

If I don't die from the coronavirus, I will try to remember to post and update in 4 years.

Re: OA and reduced honey yields

IDK - but I got 100% overwinter survival from OAV.

That's going to make quite a bit more honey than the typical 25% + losses.

Re: Any beekeepers sick w CV-19? SURVEY

You trying to hint that bee stings could cure the Coronavirus?
  14. Re: Found 6 N95 Masks I was using for OAV

N95 Masks absolutely work for OAV. IDK why people are so illogical about OAV - the EPA classifies it as a pesticide so beekeepers treat it like they're working with Mercury.

    The EPA is...
  15. Found 6 N95 Masks I was using for OAV

Just saying, I found a bag of them I bought for like $15 that I was using with OAV. I was wondering why dust masks did such a good job at filtering out OAV and now I realize they were actually N95...
  16. Re: Let's just be honest: This spring is historically early.

    OK let's try to clarify:

The climate on the West coast is much different than the Northeast.

You don't get 6 months of New England winter.

Maybe your spring in that location is not...
  17. Let's just be honest: This spring is historically early.

    Blooming is already underway.

This usually happens around the end of March, early April at the earliest.

    This year is absurd.

Looks to me like the spring is 3 weeks ahead, maybe 2 weeks at...
  18. Re: Home Made Swarm Traps: Any recommendations?

Would it matter the exact shape of the box, or is the most important aspect the VOLUME?

    Thanks.
  19. Re: EFB Pro-active treatments - Now or wait until later in the season?

Not the easiest thing to educate a beekeeper who doesn't want to hear my opinion on the subject.
  20. EFB Pro-active treatments - Now or wait until later in the season?

Last year, hives had EFB - treated, it was 100% eradicated.

I know there's beekeepers out there who'll quarantine equipment for 2 years as a precaution, but I don't see the point in doing that. ...
  21. Overwintered nuc - definition is vague - advice requested.

I have colonies that overwintered, but they're not technically sitting in nuc boxes.

I don't even think it's possible to overwinter a colony in a single nuc box in my location.

    Local...
  22. I'm convinced that OAV is a cure-all for mites.

100% survival rate . Even the "weakest" hives show strength.

My secret to success? OAV. I was certain that OAV would have some negative side effects, but that is clearly incorrect.

    Just...
  23. Re: Advice on finding properties to place beehives?

Well, this has been a pretty disappointing experience.

Most of the people who have expressed interest with beekeeping and hives with me, I don't seem to get along with very well. They all seem to...
  24. What to do with extra sugar/honey from the fall?

Long story short, the hives are still heavy. What do I do with this extra honey? It's a mixture of sugar, and honey - so I can't eat it or sell it.

I haven't been inside the hives, but the...
