    Re: Managing spring build up

I expect so, but not until drawing it out. Or at least as they draw it out. Doubt they will simply plug the hole.

    Re: Managing spring build up

Agree early cold and warm are two different games. As MD indicates he does a triangle early and full sheets later. Center hole instead of triangle was my thought. Earlier switch to worker brood. It...

If the trigger is feeling the cold, would not a 3 inch hole saw in the middle work?

    Re: Managing spring build up

The willingness of bees to move onto the next frame varies a lot to my observations. As much the bee as the conditions. Moving the foundation one frame in with one at least partially draw outside...

    Re: Acorn frames

You have a longer window of safety leaving a white frame in the sun before a puddle of wax and a warped foundation results. Square onto the sun angle is a bad idea.
  6. Re: The use of 48hr queen cells to spread resistant genetics

what we "know" seem to change with such actions

And you get at my real pondering. On the face of it interrupting feeding would fly in the face of raising high quality queens. Must be a lesson in...
  7. Re: The use of 48hr queen cells to spread resistant genetics

How much jelly is left for the queen at arrival?
You may get good genes in a relatively poor queen. Nothing wrong with that as long as you have a plan.

Oh I do not know if it is that far. Much about why one view is way too little action and the next view is way too much interference. At least nobody is screaming.

I believe rather strictly in the Constitution as a default, but jim you may convince me on this one. Do not want to see it until every state is hack free and legitimate. Paper ballots and no hanging...

Old enough? So very true. Old enough to know there is a great deal of waste. Old enough to know that a tax cut that pays for itself is a lie, and it did not take me 3 years to figure that out. Can I...

    About the shop itself.
Shelterlogic stands up to snow loads here. Knock offs or their lighter weight lines probably would work. Much nicer way to build the permanent shop.

  24. Re: I checked a couple hives-Small clusters, no brood

Plenty of syrup, not enough pollen to brood. I would not expect any brood until some pollen is coming in or some sub added even with twice the bees.
