  1. Re: Bees are omnivores and need the Amino Acids from microbes in bee bead.

In the same way all ruminants, are omnivores.

I'm sure that OAV I just added has no impact, maybe even acts as pickling.

    Re: modified taranov split

People, I am very disappointed in you all . Not one argument broke out about the proper way to do a flyback and so many opportunities.

The queen stays with the old hive to do her good work. Nurse...

Re: Getting comb drawn 'on demand'.

Thinking along the same lines. Subjective observation is that the greatest inducement to draw worker comb is bees already drawing worker comb. Stop that for even a day and it is hard to get going...

    Re: Drawing comb

Put your combs above inner cover in a closed body. Screen your inner cover. I would reduce my entrance as much as I dare.

Feeding sub mayhelp with comb building.
  5. Re: OA vape 5 days vs. 7 days apart - what do you recommend?

You are confusing practicality with reality. OAV had a history of decades long use in Europe, however was a registered pesticide in the US from 1957.

  6. Re: Queenless hive with supersedure cells - best approach at this point?

Always good when a thread ends well.

Keep your nuc small and tight. No need for any extra space.
Expansion season has passed, protection season is here. There is a reason a nuc box has a short...

Re: Lazy bees, too late to re-queen?

I'm thinking dub as well, well more like average.

They are not viewing the 2nd deep as really their space. (bearding) Pull up a brood frame or two and rotate any lower partially drawn frames into...

Re: Too late to split in CT?

thought I would start my day by spitting into the wind.

Wonder if the answers would be different if the question was: Is it too late to requeen in CT?

What is the best way this late?

    Re: No new brood

No background so I do not know. Looks like, back in my more foolish days I would give a split a generous amount of capped brood to give them a boost. Killed a lot of brood that they would be very...

Re: Couple of ?'s about 3 deeps

It's the bees call. Two hives side by side will move to the next box totally differently. If you do not want to reverse then try a drawn super frame partially filled from your other hive. Next...

Re: Couple of ?'s about 3 deeps

You can put the super under the 3rd deep. Increases the odds.

Yes you can rotate your capped out to store or rotate to the outside and undrawn into the center.

What is happening in the 2 lower...
  18. Re: OA vape 5 days vs. 7 days apart - what do you recommend?

Logic says the uptake would be higher in uncapped honey, pretty low in capped.

    Re: Taranov split modified

You are getting a mated queen from your club?
You have been adding brood frames from another hive to your nuc ? (where the QCs came from)

What is the short version of requeen failure?

    Yes,...
  22. Re: Vertical Two queen hive - Top entrance or not?

My experience with a vertical two queen is they have a short life span, 2 or 3 months and it is a 1 queen hive again.

If your goal is to separate, than run upper entrance so you have field bees...
  23. Re: Added a frame of eggs to a split hive, found queen cells and also eggs & larvae

I would stop fighting city hall and let the cells you have replace the queen.

    Re: Check out this nuc

Brood weighs less than honey, even if you got 4 honey and 1 brood (you would not be happy) you are topping out around 50. I want to see more bees than honey in a nuc.
