    Re: Todays Honey Prices!

 $18 dollars a pint? Wow! I can't remember if that is just a little more or less than a pound. I am leaning toward slightly less at the moment. I have been selling the 1 pound squeeze bottles...
  3. Re: Enticing Bees To Draw Comb And Store Nectar In Super

I find extra-waxing isn't as enticing if applied too far in advance, for some reason I can't figure out.

    Good luck!

I noticed that too and also wondered why. My gut tells me it...

Re: my bees are being jerks

I have a few of what I call mean hives. No fun to work with bees flying up my sleeves and up in my veil but even then they were only like that when I went into them. In 5 years I've only been...

Re: Is my idea brilliant or stupid?

    Thanks.

600 watts sounds like a lot but heaters, and heating elements, from what I have seen can require some pretty high wattage's. I wouldn't think it would be like toaster but I'm not sure....

Re: Is my idea brilliant or stupid?

The foot pedal thing sounds good. Even the power strip but my glass top range is already crowded and pretty sticky for extra cords.

I currently use a serrated cold knife to uncap. In the past I...

Re: Michael and I team-up in Sarasota

I've always thought that even if there was insulation in the cavity, the bees carried it out in little bits like they remove the paper from a newspaper combine. Never seen them do it... just assuming.

Re: My wax smells?? Can I reuse?

I am a little bit concerned by the afb references to smelly wax. I lost a hive to hive beetles last year and didn't render the wax in a timely manner. It was pretty gross when I dumped it out of the...

Re: treating for varroa in the winter

I don't know if its necessary but I wait for a day when the bees are flying. There are usually warm days here and there. I would think the bees would need to not be in cluster for the vapor to be as...

Re: Manuka Honey Making, New Zealand

Wow! Thats pretty cool. Amazon sells what they call certified manuka honey for 68 dollars for an 8.8 oz jar. As I understand it the stuff is not primarily for eating but for medicinal purposes.

    Re: Suggestions

    Yall are funny. :applause: :lpf:

That thing looks heavy and galvanized. I would think it would have to be located in very shaded location or it would indeed get very hot in there.

    Re: Brushy Mountain Closing?

It would make more sense that it would be the prison.

Its just down the interstate from me here but I have never laid eyes on it.

Must have closed it about the time James Earl Ray died.

Year before last I bought a few hybrid queens from lappes bee supply. They were advertised as Italian/carniolan hybrids. I wondered how this came about and questioned the seller. She informed me that...

  23. Re: Mold in syrup mixer - what cleaner?

Did the star san break up or dissolve the mold comparable to bleach? I have used it before but always just for a final sanitize on clean items such as bottles and utensils.

    Re: Mother of All Swarms

I have had zero luck with swarms that settle more than 20 feet high. I once shot the base of the limb that the bees were on with a shotgun and a full choke. The impact jarred most of the bees loose...
