The Golden Rod just started to bloom on 7/30 in NE PA. However, 5 days later, I have yet to see one bee on the plants. They
are on my Plantain weeds. Today, I stopped at a new garden shop.
While perusing, I noticed many, many honey bees on plants named "Mountain Mint." I purchased 3 plants
and will add them to the Russian Sage area.
In NE PA, (Scranton area) our golden rod is a long time in. The Asters have just started blooming. However, I haven't seen my bees on any of them. Thoughts?

Galanthus- AKA Snow Drops
While inquiring about some hives today, the homeowner pointed these out to me. Bees actively gathering nectar and/or pollen- could not believe how many bees were on this small patch of plants.
Southern Mercer county. Goldenrod blooming in drainage ditch. It's been pretty dry around here and no other goldenrod blooming, but the little patch in the drainage ditch had a lot of bee's on it.
7/22/17 - Harrisburg area- Golden rod just beginning to bloom in a few areas. The main crop is still a few weeks off. We have had a lot of rain lately, will be interesting to see how that effects things.
8/21/17 - Harrisburg Area- Golden rod mostly (75%+) full bloom. Bees bringing in pollen, but no signs or smells of nectar yet. Also noticed Joe pye weed and Iron weed in bloom last 2 weeks.
Sedum and snakeroot are starting to reach full bloom as the initial goldenrod winds down. But i see a second round of a taller variety of goldenrod starting to bloom.
Dandelions for maybe a week, same with forsythia, seeing magnolias starting.
