1. Name - Troy Dere
2. Zip Code - 32820
3. Bloom Date - 12/07/06
4. Plant - (Soft?) Maple Tree
5. Confidence interval - I found the tree on 12/26 already had seed pods on it, so I figure it had to have been in bloom about 2-3 weeks earlier. I missed the bloom as it was so early I wasn’t even looking for it.

1. Name - Troy Dere
2. Zip Code - 32826
3. Bloom Date – 01/15/07
4. Plant – Viburnum Shrub Here is a URL to an image of something that looks very close. http://www.rampantscotland.com/colour/graphics/viburnum_bn02747a.jpg
5. Confidence interval – The blooms are about done now though I did see a bee working it last week. 3/5/07 So it is in bloom for almost two months.

1. Name - Troy Dere
2. Zip Code - 32820
3. Bloom Date – 2/13/07
4. Plant – Orange Blossom
5. Confidence interval – I found some trees with blooms on them already. It surprised me as this is a bit early. I talked to others on beesource and discovered that the weak trees bloom a week or two earlier than healthy ones. So I’d call mid-feb early bloom. Main bloom is about 1 March for 4 weeks.

1. Name - Troy Dere
2. Zip Code - 32817
3. Bloom Date – 3/11/07
4. Plant – China Berry here is a URL to the plant. Click on the Flower link to see a close up of the flowers. http://texnat.tamu.edu/CMPLANTS/toxic/plants/chinaberry.html
5. Confidence interval – I saw the plant in bloom yesterday. I’ve been watching this one and so I know it was not in bloom a week earlier.

1. Name - Troy Dere
2. Zip Code - 32817
3. Bloom Date – 3/12/07
4. Plant – Palm Bloom Here is a link to a picture that looks just like the one I saw today. http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Beekeeping/flowers.htm The Palm Blossom is at the bottom of the page.
5. Confidence interval – It was not in bloom yesterday, so today was the day it opened for sure.

I saw both dandelion's and clover in bloom yesterday. In fact about half the dandelions had gone to seed head already - so I think you could put the main bloom date at least a week earlier than yesterday.

12/3/2007 Dandelions in bloom (in an untidy mowed lawn area)
12/10/2007 White Dutch Clover in bloom (in an untidy mowed lawn area)

These were found in Orlando Florida Zip Code 32826

P.S. It just does not seem right for spring flowers before the new year begins does it? The weather is forecast for 82 and sunny today though - hard to argue with that.

Pepper tree.
I put pollen on the hive today. Hope to build the hive when the flowers open. This honey is used to feed the bees over the winter. I will not harvest the honey till the end of Jan.2012. Thatís when we get the Maple bloom. Thanks to fish-stix for the information and direction.

Pollen of all sorts has been pouring in since winter solstice.

Pine scrub: Rusty Lyonia is starting and bees working it hard today.

Backyard: Persian lime is just about done and bloomed out, bees done and moved on. Lemon flower buds still in developing stages.

Recent mild wet spell with some lower temps (highs in low 70's) really has made a difference.

Pine scrub: Saw palmetto flow is really starting to cook here. Many other wild flowers are starting to turn on; some early partridge pea is now starting to bloom

Backyards & landscapes: Magnolias have good blooms. Some bottle brush continues. I have seen the bees working various holly trees and shrubs.

I don't know what it is but my bees are bringing in huge amounts of white pollen. I thought the cabbage palm was almost done, but maybe the recent rains have recharged the batteries.
The only other thing we have in the area that blooms right about now is mangrove, but it's a little early.
Anybody else in Central Florida notice this? Is it possible that recent increase in rainfall is the cause?

What is needed:

•zip code, city or county
•date when the plant first bloomed
•name of the plant
•comments - example: if it was the end of the bloom just add that to the comments

They've been blooming for a few weeks now but nectar-less blooms, the girls have been able to get pollen off them but no flow. Todays grove walk showed they are finally blooming, probably at about 25%. Honeybells don't even have buds yet though. What a weird wet winter.

Spanish needle should be good, I have a ton of it around here right now. Not sure on the goldenrod. We don't seem to have any of it down here, too far south.

If you have Brazilian Pepper it's in full swing right now, should be a great last hoorah for the year until spring.

From my notes, I only recorded dates that I first saw bees foraging on each source:

Garberia (Garberia heterophylla), 11-8-2017: Major nectar source last November.

Rusty Lyonia, (Lyonia ferruginea), 2-18-18: The last two years it bloomed in late January.

White sweet clover (Melilotus albus), 3-04-18

Wild Olive (Osmanthus americanus), 3-18-18

Blackberry, 4-05-18: Bloomed earlier, but this was the first day I noticed bees on it.

Gallberry, 4-14-18: Not sure if this is the tall or short variety. Lots of blooms forming on these.

Palmetto: Any day now :)
