An Arctic cold from will be pushing down into the United States Starting December 12, 2012.
This front will push from the upper northwest down to Florida.
Temperatures will range from Highs in the upper teens to lows around Zero!
This is a sustained cold from, and from the models, it will last into January.
This US has eluded most of the cold air this winter, but that's about to change.
Batten up your hives because winter is on it's way.
We've been at a near constant -15C since the middle of November and this morning my thermometer is at -27. You may want to start looking for mittens and a toque!
long and short range forecasts here..odds of being right way down the road are highly unlikely.Temperatures here lately seem to really be bouncing around but well within long term normals, there however seems to be a lot of wind and we have had rain showers which is unusual but not unheard of.I think often of my bees and the weather they must endure and last winter, if you call that a winter,it was so mild .
Checked my hives today and with a 5F air temp, temp inside at center, just under the inner cover ranged from 28F to 33 F. And some condensation/frosting on wood around top entrance, so all's well.
It may not be intentional, but a by product of the cluster activity is a warmer ambient air temp inside an insulated( 2 inch of styrofoam) hive.
