I watched a swarm queen hatch today.I grabed her and started a new 5 frame nuk. We are in the middle of a flow now. Do I have to put the vergin queen in a queen cage and let the bees eat there way in/out or just turn her loose in the hive ? I put 2 frames of eggs with the bees on the frames and I shook some more bees into the hive. Then I blocked the entrance and I will move the hive about 12 miles away. Do you think I did it right/what did I miss/what did I do wrong? Thanks for any input you may have. Robbie
Your virgin did you put her in a nuc with the same bees she hatched from if you did probably be ok. If there is brood in there I wouldn't worry about moveing her 12 miles cause those bees won't abandon those eggs and capped brood. Remember there has to be drones to mate her to. If it wasn't the same bees might be a problem just have to wait and see. Put a feeder on them that will do them real good even if there is a flow.Good Luck
Thanks throrope I looked and read the site you pasted. Very useful.
