"Interestingly there has been no discussion of these two topics on beesource as of yet. There was a time when topics such as those two would have been put up for comment just as soon as they happened."

Yes, I have noticed that. Perhaps some are a bit tired of the,.."sour grapes/anti-Obama comments that have been made, shortly after the election,.....

"Surprised by Obama's reaction". --Bodo.

And what "reaction" to you propose a [the] president should make? I would think the millitary "brass" would make a recomendation as to how to respond but maybe that would be too much,..."nitpicking".

"Why not pull the Fort Hood shootings and the "The dark side of psychiatry" threads together? From what little direct contact I have had with mental health professionals, I am sadly not surprised." --Scrapfe.

Yes that certainly is the "dark side of psychiatry", but to blame the "professionals" is a of a "stretch".

The field of psychiatry has gone through a lot of changes in the last 15-25 years. Because of a lack of "progress" there has been the resort to [horror of horrors; think beekeeping],.. to medication.

If anyone is to blame for this horrendous act, it's the Palestinians of the Middle East who started these acts of suicide/bombings/killings for their perverted sense of "suffering" at the hands of Israel.

From my perspective,...one of the sufferings [among many] of people on the earth is those poor children of some parts of Africa with bloated stomachs from hunger and flies; certainly not Palestinians or Muslims.

The person involved in the shooting listed his "origin" with a mosque on an application looking for a wife,.. as a palestinian .

[QUOTE=Bodo;475864]H1N1 is just the flu. Not sure why it's being promoted as a big deal..[QUOTE]

Wait till you get knocked down onto your back. And I'm a big boy. I was down for 3 days and am now climbing out of the Hole. In Hindsight, I should have gotten one of the flu shots. Next year, I will do so.

Ya, the flu isn't any fun. But my point is that it's JUST the flu. It's not any more lethal than the normal seasonal flu, right?

I'm sure you are mostly correct. If it is, it is. Though, if it isn't, it isn't.

I think the biggest difference is that most of us have never seen these antigenic epitopes before and the demographics, regarding susceptible people, have shifted toward the young and healthy. As mentioned before, the biggest fear is that this strain will infect an individual (or animal) that is already infected with a more pathogenic strain. This is possible with other strains as well but they are not as virulent as H1N1. The good news is that the current H1N1 doesn’t seem especially mutable.
