Default Google Earth

Barrry,
Is there any way to link to a Google Earth placemark in Beesource in the same way that you can do it in an email?

Sure, as long as the placemark is a URL.

It appears that the placemarks are attachments with a .kmz extension that's 865 B. It would be nice to have the ability to put one of those placemark pins on a beeyard or almond orchard where someone has their hives and let other members look at it via Google Earth. I doesn't look like the board software allows that .kmz attachment though.

Are you talking about doing it like Dave does the swarm and bloom maps? I like your idea.

If you try to placemark my address you will be about 15 miles off. Technology is great, but it can be so misleading when it operates on incomplete information.

I'm talking about just pinning a location using the placemark function in Google Earth and then posting a link to that map within Beesource. I use it to locate property, and then I can email it to someone who has Google Earth and they can hit that link in the email and go straight to an aerial view of the property. I use it in conjunction with MLS listings and the county assessor maps to help evaluate real estate, but it could be fun just to look at bee yards and such. Some of the photos are pretty old, but some are fairly current.

What I do is locate the spot I want and then pin it and name it. But I've seen what you're talking about where the address you put in somehow selects something that's not even close.

Hmmm. Pretty close. It lets me attach, but when I click on the link it denies access. I must be doing something wrong.

Thanks for adding this Barry.
